A more resilient variant on Legacy combo elves.
It's not so defendant upon
Natural Order
or Glimpse of Nature as other elf decks are, and the lords help me get around common problems such as
Engineered Plague
, and Umezawa's Jitte
When I started playing magic, the first thing I bought was the preconstructed deck: Elvish Rage, and since then, my best, favorite, and primary deck has always been my elf deck.
In the early stages of the deck, I quickly screwed it up by adding every green creature that I could get my hands on. (was still able to beat some friends with it) Eventually, I decided that I had to make some drastic changes to the deck, so I got some Llanowar Elves, some
Treetop Scout
, some
Elvish Berserker
, and other things, and made it q quick aggro deck of mostly 1-drops and pumps
Timberwatch Elf
,
Wirewood Pride
,
Alpha Status
Around 2010, I got back into magic, and I was able to trade for some cards I wanted, and found that there were many new and exciting elf cards to include, which lead it to become the deck you see here.
Forest: there are only 11 of them, and That's because you only need 1 to get the ball rolling, after that my creatures can produce all the mana I need. My second land-drop make the deck more explosive, but it is absolutely not required.
Llanowar Elves: Llanowar elves should be in every single elf deck, He's the ideal first turn drop. More than pays for himself.
Fyndhorn Elves: They are Llanowar Elves 5-8
Quirion Ranger: Quirion ranger is quickly becoming my favorite card in this deck. It serves 2 purposes. It untaps creatures, and it allows me to recycle lands. Quirion ranger is a better alternative to my second land drop, if i have llanowar elves on the field, and i have quirion ranger, i can use my forest twice and my llanowar elves twice to generate 4 mana that turn, enabling any number of things.
Heritage Druid: heritage druid is my single most explosive mana producer. It in effect turns every elf into Llanowar Elves with haste. It essentially lets me skip a turn, and is a piece in many combos.
Nettle Sentinel: nettle sentinel is an aggressive 2/2 for G creature, and also, it has a strong interaction with heritage druid. Now, not only do 1-drop elves become mana neutral, but they will in-fact generate mana, by causing Nettle Sentinel to untap so it can be tapped to Heritage Druid again.
Priest of Titania: the Priest of titania generates all the mana I need. a Priest on turn 2, normally means that I can drop my hand on turn 3.
Elvish Archdruid: It's like priest of Titania, but for 1 extra mana, It's also a lord. This is very important, because It will cause my swarm of 1-1 elves to become a serious threat to my opponent's life total. It also protects me from various things that are problems like
Engineered Plague
.
Joraga Warcaller: Not only is Joraga Warcaller a multi-lord, but he's a 1-drop when you need him to be. A very valuable and versatile card in this deck. If you have a
Wirewood Symbiote
, you can
Green Sun's Zenith
for him, bounce him with your symbiote, and then play him with the kicker.
Elvish Visionary: elvish visionary is a cantrip, meaning that it replaces itself. Best thing to have if you need more elf bodies than you have in your hand. It also is a good draw engine with
Wirewood Symbiote
, which allows you to draw twice per turn cycle(you can bounce it on your opponent's turn too)
Staff of Domination: combined with Priest of Titania or Elvish Archdruid, and a total of 5 or more elves on the board, it gives you infinite mana, infinite life, infinite taps of opponent's creatures, and infinite draws, and infinity power and infinity toughness with Joraga Warcaller. It also functions as a drawing engine if conditions are not quite met, and can tap down dangerous opponent creatures if you need it to do that(good against
Show and Tell
decks. )
Wirewood Symbiote
: It's not an elf, but it is a very useful card. It saves my elves from spot removal, it can untap Priest of Titania, it can return Elvish Visionary to my hand to draw another card.
Green Sun's Zenith
: This can get me any creature I need at the time. Sometimes I need an Elvish Archdruid to pump up my guys; sometimes I need a
Wirewood Symbiote
to bounce my Elvish Visionary and untap mana dorks, sometimes I need a Regal Force to draw a new hand.
Regal Force: This is my main
Green Sun's Zenith
target. If I've built up my board and need more cards to end the game, Regal Force Is what I get. It's also a 5/5, which matters in delver, death and taxes, and other creature match-ups.
Emrakul, the Aeons Torn: He has a lot of abilities and all of them are important. He's a win-con that can't be countered, and always gets me an extra turn. He also makes me immune to conventional mill(such as Painter's Servant +
Grindstone
.)
Glimpse of Nature: it gives massive card advantage. If you've managed to draw 2 cards off of it, it's worth it. if you draw 3, it's Ancestral Recall, but you can often sustain many creature drops with it, utilizing Heritage Druid, and other mana engines, and getting extra draws with Elvish Visionary. Once you get the ball rolling, you can do it until you've found a win con.
Concordant Crossroads: You'll often find yourself playing a whole bunch of elves in 1 turn, but having to wait until the next turn for them to attack for lethal. concordant crossroads solves this problem. it also does the job of [[lightning greaves.
Gaea's Cradle: Gaea's cradle is a very good spell. It allows for some explosive mana acceleration.
Crop Rotation: This is able to fetch me a Gaea's Cradle, and It can do it at instant speed, and it can do it after I've already made my land drop. It is often better to have a Crop Rotation in hand than a gaea's cradle.
