Crux of Fate since a good chunk of your critters are dragons?

My main reasons for choosing the gates & temples over fetches & shocks are Maze's End and scrying. I fully realize that's not nearly as good for a 5 color deck as the fixing provided by fetches & shocks, but the point of this deck is to kind of take its time and hopefully not seem like a threat, based on the ridiculous premise and silly commander at the helm, should I ever decide to cast her - and I fully intend on casting her.

Between Damnation and Crux of Fate I like the choice provided by Crux better, and it fits the flavor of the deck a lot better as well. "Save the dragons? Or let the battle of the Highlanders potentially destroy the world?"

Just my initial thoughts, anyway - this deck isn't quite built yet, as I'd need to pull the trigger and purchase a few of the cards on this current decklist anyway.

I would suggest dropping the mazes end strategy. Not consistent and could end up causing problems for you

Given your justifications, I will politely decline your advice, as in my mind, "consistency" is a concept that is entirely incongruous with the EDH format.

"Fun" is my top priority with this deck, and with every deck I've ever made. That's fun for me, and fun for my opponents. Perhaps I'll find that the inconsistency leads to me not having much fun due to mana issues, but the fundamental catalyst behind that change is still "fun," and not "consistency."

Just my take on the matter.

I can understand that. In EDH mazes end is a waste of space in my opinion, BUT I agree that the best thing to do is build a FUN deck. I play EDH and magic in general to have fun, so my edh decks are also build more for fun. Not to mention the money that would go into that. :D

Very cool, thanks for being polite and friendly on the internet, ninjaman16782!

I should probably also mention, this is my first stab at a 5-color EDH deck, and I've wanted to include Maze's End in EDH ever since it was spoiled, but never had a good deck shell idea to put it in. Being my first attempt at 5-color, I really wanted to include all the silly cards like Maze's End and Door to Nothingness.

April 2, 2015 1:24 p.m.

Makes sense. And no problem. I see no point in being rude, especially because I see your reason and agree with it :). 5 color EDH is fun, and door is a must if only for shenanigans. One other suggestion Crystal Quarry.

I would also like to say you include the BEST highlander ever. Questing Phelddagrif. Or his legendary counterpart Phelddagrif. Just because

I meant you should. Don't know how I missed that XD

But...neither Phelddagrif nor Questing Phelddagrif have swords/bladed weapons depicted in their art. :(

I did consider at least Phelddagrif to be a member of my Jedi Council in BANTha Poo-Doo Jedi! but am not 100% sure it really fits the rest of the flavor of the deck, I just want to own and use a Phelddagrif somewhere.

Oran-Rief, the Vastwood with Exava as a lot of the creatures are green??

April 8, 2015 3:50 p.m.

Also, I still hold by Crystal Quarry being amazing for this deck

Ooh, I do like Oran-Rief, the Vastwood and a Crystal Quarry would be nice - I just need to get my hands on one.

Another suggestion for this deck would Prismatic Omen, it gives you all the colors on turn 2. Also Day of Destiny is great because it pumps all your creatures, and as a plus, there is a sword in the art.

Oooh, I wasn't even aware of Prismatic Omen or Day of Destiny as cards, I'll definitely need to get my hands on those and put them in here, thanks!

Also I just realized Akroma, Angel of Wrath has a sword in the art, well both of them actually. Not sure what sword she uses but she is one hell of a beater. And for more legendary stuff with swords in the art, Mirari's Wake is a great ramp spell that also counts as an anthem for only 5 mana

Oh my. Akroma, Angel of Wrath and her Sword of Vengeance? I think I have to do it. I was also flipping through my collection and realized Akroma's Memorial could have a good place in here - what with the legendariness of it and swordiness of it and all...

But now the question is, what do I take out for all those?

Isamaru, Hound of Konda and Zurgo Bellstriker to make the deck faster. And hey, where's Captain Sisay? She seems like a no-brainer. Also, Cromat.

Isamaru, Hound of Konda and Cromat do not fit the theme of the deck, and speed isn't exactly a priority here - in case that wasn't already obvious. Plus, I'd much rather have Helmsmasher over Bellstriker in the deck.

As for Captain Sisay, while her ability technically fits the deck, it's not how I'd want to play it. This, along with a few of my other decks, is purely flavor-town.

sorry to say, but Dragonlord Kolaghan is almost pointless in this deck. as is Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch.

how about the elderazi leaders(emrakul, kolizek, and/or ulamong), Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Iona, Shield of Emeria, Vendilion Clique, more of the gods of theros, Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, Ghost Council of Orzhova, Phage the Untouchable, Grenzo, Dungeon Warden, Marchesa, the Black Rose, i could go on and on about all of the great choices!
