Blind Seer, CEDH version

Commander / EDH*

blongmtg

This will be my attempt at making a competitive Blind seer deck (which will not be budget at all). We win with "protection from" beats, and Mass Land Destruction while controlling the board in various ways.

COMBOS

Mass Land Destruction (MLD) in Mono Blue!

Blind Seer can use his ability to color opponent's lands (given you have the mana/a mana combo). Certain spells/abilities will check the color of all permanents (including lands). This will make them vulnerable to following combos:

Blind Seer + All Is Dust + (enough mana / mana combo) = MLD

Blind Seer + Ugin, the Spirit Dragon(X=0) + (enough mana) = MLD

Blind Seer + Wash Out + (enough mana / mana combo) = MLD (bounce)

Blind Seer(Say GREEN!) + Hibernation + (enough mana / mana combo) = MLD

Note: If seer's ability gets discounted by items like heart stone, this becomes much easier to pull off without a mana combo.

Chameleon Spirit is surprisingly good! At first I considered him filler, but I've managed to get in some good beats with him as you can change the color of permanents to actually boost his damage.

Mana Combos

So yes... where does all that mana come from that's need in those amazing combos above? You may have noticed that I run the following mana doublers: High Tide, Caged Sun, and Extraplanar Lens (which will be one-sided due to our Snow type land).

Of course our ole favorite combo is:

Deadeye Navigator + (any creature that untaps mana when it ETB) = mana

The only exception to this combo would be Cloud of Faeries unless we have one of our mana doublers working, or we use Heartstone to discount his ability.

Deadeye will also help keep our commander out of trouble, and abuse more ETB triggers.

DO NOT LISTEN TO EDHREC / Cards I hate / My rant...

Like coin flip decks, I see a mistakes when building Blind Seer, especially on EDHREC. Many who build this commander resign to use "on-theme" cards that do nothing / are just too clunky. Take Dismiss into Dream for example (which will not make it in this deck). It's CMC is 7 and it doesn't do anything on it's own! This card is listed as a "top card" on EDHREC right now. For 7 mana we can do much better with All Is Dust and remove lands too! (although I understand it's at $20 now...).

Also... Why is King Crab a "signature card"!?!?!?! It costs 6 mana, needs to tap, and it's ability costs 2 mana! That's 8 mana and a turn later before you get to do anything, and that's assuming they already have a green creature (10 mana if you need to use BS's ability to color said creature!!!!!)

Another card that usually sees play in this deck is Jace's Defeat??? Why would I want to run a 2 cmc counter spell just for blue, when I can actually run counter spell? So if the spell isn't blue, I'd need to spend 4 mana (2 to color the spell) to use it!? This spell isn't the same as Blue Elemental Blast or any of the others where it can actually destroy a permanent, so why are people putting it in the deck other than to intentionally lower their own power level?
