The deck's main strategy is to take control of creatures using Merieke Ri Berit and sacrificing those creatures to gain an advantage before untaping Merirke Ri Berit. Transmute helps to get cards like illusionists bracers and swiftfoot boots to improve the efficiency of Merieke Ri Berit in a game. Permanents like second wind and puppet strings help to make Merieke a machine gun.
