A creature based strategy, build a board that wins, if things go bad Soulflayer will pick up other creatures styles and groove on up in your opponents business.
The goal was to find role players that have abilities to enable a Soulflayer, but have the ensemble good enough to win on their own abilities so the deck doesn't have to focus completely on creating a super bad mofo Flayer.
The ramp Birds of Paradise Sylvan Caryatid
Flying, Hexproof
The 2 drop play if we miss our Bird drop, Strangleroot Geist Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
Haste, First Strike
The board threats, Geist of Saint Traft Vampire Nighthawk Siege Rhino Restoration Angel Nylea, God of the Hunt
Hexproof, Flying, Lifelink, Deathtouch, Trample, Indestructible
Removal package of Abrupt Decay and Path to Exile. Relic of Progenitus and Scavenging Ooze wrecks the delve plan, so they would receive priority to be on the receiving end of one of these spells in most situations.
Added Sword of Fire and Ice since we have so much hexproof and evasion going on, i wanted to find a way to get card advantage. The sword works well for this and has the added ability of an occasional shock to help our cause.
The mana base might be off, if anyone has any suggestion i am certainly open. But so far in testing it's working out smooth enough. Celestial Colonnade was an early experiment, and even though i was thinking i was going to eventually swap it out for something else, it's just performing too well in this deck.
Haven't spent much time on the sideboard, so there is much there that may change.
Comments, suggestions, discussion always welcome.
Cheers!
