Druid of Purification

Creature — Human Druid

When this enters, starting with you, each player may choose an artifact or enchantment you don't control. Destroy each permanent chosen this way.

You're def on the right track KBK7101, since God-Eternal Bontu was included in the stock precon list (along with Korvold, Fae-Cursed King and The Gitrog Monster).

Bontu is solid for sure. I've used it in a couple of Aristocrats decks before. I'll reconsider it as I play-test more, especially if I feel like I need another pseudo-evasive beater.

I want to put this deck together in paper, but am weighing my options on picking up the last 7 cards I don't currently own:

I'm considering which proxy service is fastest, or maybe picking up a couple of the cards listed here, and swapping the other slots for cards I already own in the next accordion block:

These are all prime candidates for swaps, until I figure out how and which of the others to pick up:

Other candidates for consideration:

Are you looking for more ETB removal kinda like Ixidron? I'd recommend checking out:

I don't play Bant much, but Tsukimi does. Idk if they might have more suggestions for what you're looking for.

I'll do my best; I haven't played Green/White together as much as I used to, especially stuff that's more focused on life gain. If you're interested in some suggestions for life gain and Green/White adjacent strats, I'd tap in with Tsukimi; they love Bant.

  • One thing that I noticed is that you seem a bit split on life gain and +1/+1 counter support. Based on your description, it sounds like you're more interested in the counter support to send counters around. For this reason, I think that maybe cutting out most or some of the life gain support could focus those slots a bit more. Focusing in on a primary strategy could help alleviate some of that clunkiness.

  • Since Marwen gets her Indestructible counters when she ETBs, maybe a small Blink package of Ephemerate, Eerie Interlude, & Semester's End could be added to facilitate that.

  • I'd recommend checking out Grasp of Fate as a potential swap with Banishing Light. For EDH, I like to have a mix of non-board wipe/multi-target removal to supplement the wipes & single target stuff when possible. They're not Elves, but Druid of Purification and Bronzebeak Foragers are also solid options in that vein.

  • Since Elves tend to crap out bodies, Aura Shards is another great repeatable removal option for a deck like this.

  • Idk if you have a specific budget in mind, but I'd recommend checking out Kodama of the West Tree and Roaming Throne as strong good stuff support pieces.

I know you mostly dabble with Modern, but I'm not sure if you've heard of or used EDHRec before? It's a helpful starting point to see what are some commonly utilized cards for various deck archetypes for each commander.

Hi man, better late than never. If you're still looking for two cards to cut than I'd recommend getting rid of:

  • Poison Dart Frog great deterrent from attacking you, but it requires keeping up mana and it isn't the best at either generating mana or removal.
  • Hedge Shredder low synergy with the rest of your cards. Doesn't get you ahead unless you're facing a mill deck. If it's about your commander crewing a vehicle, than I'd suggest the newly released Lumbering Worldwagon (you won't be able to crew it solely with your commander, but you've plenty of creatures that can help).
  • Steelbane Hydra seems very mana inefficient. You could run something along the lines of Druid of Purification

In a similar vein of Bane of Progress, but Druid of Purification gets even more silly with Ygra on board.

I enjoy cards that present opponents with a choice, which can be spun politically, or put them in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario. Some stuff I run in various decks:

  • Council's Judgment - Voting doesn't target, so the table has an opportunity to deal with up to 4 troublesome permanents.

  • Seize the Spotlight - I typically add this in aggro decks that can make use of the stolen creatures.

  • Druid of Purification - In a similar vein as Council's Judgment. Everyone tends to have something around the table that they don't like. Most games I've seen Druid of Purification, it tends to remove at least two things.

  • Mob Verdict - This has popped up in a couple of games I've played my Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser deck. It's partly in there for flavor, but also because I tend to play in a fairly token heavy & aggro meta, so it presents the table with the opportunity to take whoever has the widest board down a peg or two.

One of my friends recently put together one of the voting Elf commanders from one of the LotR pre-cons. Voting can be fun if done a couple of times per game, but can be a bit much when done multiple times in succession. Idk, I enjoy those moments where players might have to stop and discuss decisions before making them
