Uncivil Unrest

Enchantment

Nontoken creatures you control have riot. (They enter the battlefield with your choice of a +1/+1 counter or haste.)

If a creature you control with a +1/+1 counter on it would deal damage to a permanent or player, it deals double that damage instead.

I agree that Uncivil Unrest is VERY good. I once had it this deck for a long time. However, whenever I played it I noticed that I already had +1 counters on most, if not all, my creatures. Furthermore, I don't really play this deck as a heavy sac deck (unlike most Marchesa decks). Most of the time I'm just trying to reset the board as soon as I can. So I decided to take out Uncivil Unrest for something cheaper. If I decide to put in more sac outlets, I'll probably consider putting it back in. But as of now, I see myself putting in another MLD before putting Uncivil Unrest back in.

I've thought about replacing Nasty End for Plumb the Forbidden. Maybe I will. It's a good card. And you make very good points.

I like cards that do things the same turn they are played. Canoptek Tomb Sentinel can't do anything by itself. Again, if I put in more sac outlets, I'll probably also put in Canoptek Tomb Sentinel.

Uncivil Unrest is one of the best cards printed in years for Marchesa. I can only describe the feeling as "it feels like you're cheating somehow" because it's so good here.

Plumb the Forbidden in response to non-destroy boardwipes is amazing here. Pseudo dodging counterspells, the flexibility, and instant speed makes this card.

Canoptek Tomb Sentinel finally gives us a repeatable answer to enchantments (or anything nonland) that doesn't cost 7. It honestly feels custom made for Marchesa.

Alternate sources of +1+1 counters enables you to sacrifice the same creatures on everyone's turn instead of once per round and being less reliant on attacking to get those counters is HUGE here. I run all these personally (except Drana, which got dropped for the sword).

Unspeakable Symbol gets used in response to removal or to abuse an etb/death trigger. Don't proactively put counters on everyone or you will run out of life quick. This card is quite simply amazing here when used correctly.

Sage of Fables immediately protects Marchesa and any other wizards you have.

Metallic Mimic typically names humans or wizards to protect Marchesa but the creature type can be reset with a simple sac.

Vigean Graftmage looks unassuming but he allows you to abuse any etb/death trigger on everyone's turn and it's 2 free triggers per turn for stuff like Grim Haruspex (itself and 1 other creature).

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed is about as budget friendly as he'll ever be. It's well worth a spot if you splurge on occasion.

Uncivil Unrest is the best card printed for sacrifice Marchesa decks in a loooong time. This thing borderline feels like you're cheating somehow lol.

Anduril, Narsil Reforged if it's in your budget and/or Drana, Liberator of Malakir as a perfectly usable budget alternative. These both allow you to swing at any opponent instead of only attacking the highest life.

Thran Vigil only works on your turn, but it either protects your guys after you sac on your turn or it let's you sac them 1 more time on an opponent's turn.

Feel free to check out my list for inspiration. I've had Marchesa built for about 9 years now and I'm still loving the deck. Upvotes on any of my decks are appreciated. Every Masochist Needs a Marchesa to Love Them

Uncivil Unrest, Metallic Mimic, Vigean Graftmage, and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed are all excellent options for etb/death trigger abuse here. Don't sleep on the Graftmage or Mimic. They both come down before and immediately protect Marchesa and in the case of Mimic, it usually names humans or wizards then switches to Zombies the end step before I drop Gary. In the case of Graftmage, it's 2 free sacrifices (itself + 1 more) on every player's turn to abuse anything from Imperial Recruiter to Gary while triggering stuff like Grim Haruspex.

Danny Pink is absolutely gross here. This guy draws cards constantly.

Anduril, Narsil Reforged is an amazing source of initial +1+1 counters the turn something enters and 2x +1+1 counters on everything overcand over adds up fast and ends games.

Get Chaos Warp out of your maybeboard and into the deck. It along with Feed the Swarm and Canoptek Tomb Sentinel are your only answers to enchantments in these colors. I highly recommend all 3.

Unspeakable Symbol is worth its weight in gold here. Don't proactively put counters on everyone, just in response to removal as needed.

Uncivil Unrest is one of the grossest cards ever printed for Marchesa.

Danny Pink / Grim Haruspex are 2 of the best draw engines for this deck.

Anduril, Narsil Reforged is amazing here.

Pheardemons on Marchesa's Modular Machinations

Last Laugh - First off, thank you for the suggestions!

Secondly, Uncivil Unrest is definitly solid. For no other reason than the damage doubler. Most of my creatures already enter the battlefield with counters, but double damage only for me is cool.

Thundering Raiju I'll skip for now. While the counters on it do help with Marchesa, I don't think I need it in the deck as this is more combo than aggro. He requires an attack and at a 3/3 (probably 4/4) in EDH he is kind of small to keep the counters going.

Danny Pink will definitly be playtested. I haven't looked at the Dr. Who cards that closely but maybe I should.

Thank you!

Uncivil Unrest is one of the best cards printed for Marchesa in awhile.

Thundering Raiju works great in Marchesa in general but it seems even better with modular and everything entering with their own counters.

Last but definitely not least is Danny Pink. Like Raiju, he's really good in Marchesa in general but is absolutely gross and 100% an auto-include with modular.
