RIP THS-KTK Standard!

some_text

"No machinations, no puppet strings, no plots. Just pure, sweeping death."

- Tasigur, the Golden Fang

Esper control is always a powerful deck archetype, so here's my thought of a THS-KTK standard Esper control deck. I'll keep updating this list until Theros rotates out of Standard.

If you like the deck, please +1 and leave a comment so I know who you are, and so I can return the favor. If you have suggestions, please share them.

Silumgar's Scorn is definitely the best counterspell we have access to. With 5 dragons in the deck, it will almost always be online as a Counterspell.

Clash of Wills is a cool card, and great to have on many occasions.

Dissipate is great against green decks, to combat Den Protector and Deathmist Raptor.

Having ways to control the board is essential, because one simple cannot counter everything an opponent can play.

Bile Blight is super efficient at removing any early threat, or perhaps two.

Foul-Tongue Invocation is a great card for removing something, with the potential to gain life while I'm at it.

Hero's Downfall takes care of any creature and planeswalker very nicely.

Ultimate Price hits just about every creature played, except in the Abzan decks.

Thoughtseize is a great card to play in the early turns to kill the opponents tempo, and good late game before you set up your finishing turns.

Mass removal spells are also quite handy, to wipe away an entire board in one sweep.

Languish is the best Origins addition, and is great for killing everything, barring Siege Rhino and Tasigur, the Golden Fang.

Having the right cards at the right time is crucial for a reactive control deck to work, and draw spells are just the way to get there.

Jace's Ingenuity I have gone back and forth over for ages, but for now I like it more than Anticipate.

Dig Through Time provides incredible late game potential to find a boardwipe and a wincon.

Dragonlord's Prerogative simply provides a large sum of cards.

Dragonlord Silumgar and Silumgar, the Drifting Death are beasts of creatures. Their massive bodies and excellent abilities make them incredible, until you are ahead enough in the game to begin attacking with them. The fact that they are hexproof is icing on the cake.

Dragonlord Ojutai is awesome in every aspect. Just great to play as soon as possible, or to wait on.

Sorin, Solemn Visitor is great in the current meta, because he allows me to be offensive while being defensive against the aggro decks, because his [symbol:loyalty-plus1] can gain me so much life, even while holding back to block.
