Looks good! :D I would personally build it with more combo pieces and less control, but I guess you will see what I mean soon (hopefully).

Looks good. +1.

I like the deck! A couple fun cards I run, in addition to a lot that you already have, are Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind to add more hurt to all the draw, Curiosity to combo with Niv and Nekusar, Kederekt Parasite for more punishment, and Laboratory Maniac for those instances where you draw yourself out.

Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind is nice, but he's a bit mana costly... I'd like to keep things as cheap as possible. Curiosity is nice, even if it is for just Nekusar, the Mindrazer ; drawing cards whenever an opponent does is awesome. Kederekt Parasite and Laboratory Maniac are also nice, but I don't know whether or not they warrant inclusion.

Kederekt Parasite is a lot better than it seems. Its essentially a second Nekusar, the Mindrazer for killing opponents, since his pings don't count as commander damage. Plus, it'll be rare that you don't have a red permanent, since Nekusar is, in fact, red.

... Heheh. Heheheh. Razing the Stakes... I like it. I like the deck as well. I think I'll be using this for research in building (or rather improving) my own Nekusar deck.

Wait Commander Damage?

December 30, 2013 3:46 p.m.

Octrate says... #8

Commander damage is only dealt through combat damage, so Nekusar, the Mindrazer won't be dealing any unless he actually deals combat damage. Aqueous Form wouldn't work, since it does specify that Nekusar needs to attack, and the odds are I won't attack often.

I like the deck and the achievements. +1

I would maybe consider replacing Diminishing Returns as the draw is optional instead of forced but it's still pretty good for getting cards for yourself so idk do what feels right either way cool deck +1

coltrain95 and jwe94: Thanks for the comments!

jwe94, I certainly see your point, and the exiling of my top ten cards is not pretty. I may end up dropping this for Minds Aglow , Font of Mythos , Otherworld Atlas , or Fate Unraveler .

I'd also suggest considerind Liliana's Caress and/or Megrim as the will tend to be lots of discarding going on

MagicalHacker: After some playtests, I think I'm making the following changes.

Tossing out: Bloodchief Ascension , Library of Leng , Reverberate , Chaos Warp , and Diminishing Returns .

Tossing in: Dimir Signet , Izzet Signet , Starstorm (or Blasphemous Act ), Twincast , Wheel of Fate (still not sure about Wheel of Fate , are there any other useful wheels?). Additionally, if Consecrated Sphinx is banned or restricted by our playgroup, I could replace it with Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind ... I've tested him in the slot and it was decent. Were there any other qualms with the deck?

January 22, 2014 11:09 p.m.

The deck looks pretty decent as-is. You might swap Ponder for Ophidian Eye , but I don't think there are many other changes I can suggest without having seen this deck play.

Epochalyptik: Thanks for your time and your comment. I'll certainly consider Ophidian Eye , as Curiosity has proven to be invaluable. What do you think about Bloodchief Ascension and/or Quest for Pure Flame ?

January 24, 2014 7:01 p.m.

Quest for Pure Flame is easy to trigger, but it seems unnecessary.

Bloodchief Ascension might be viable, though, considering how many wheels you run.

January 24, 2014 7:05 p.m.

Have you considered Jace's Archivist ?

January 24, 2014 7:06 p.m.

Octrate says... #18

Just curious on the Quest for Pure Flame , as it could give me an extra push to kill someone sooner. But in retrospect, it could be a bit slow. The Bloodchief Ascension was in here and it sometimes worked. At the very least it gained me quite a bit of life. I'll keep playing to see if it would warrant inclusion once again. Jace's Archivist has been decent in some cases, but it usually doesn't last very long on the field. Currently, I'm not sure it's up-to-snuff or not. In similar circumstance with Bloodchief Ascension , I'll keep testing to see if it warrants re-inclusion.

A friend of mine plays this deck at my LGS, he plays Liliana's Caress , works well with all the wheels. He also plays a bunch of "each player draws x cards" spells, and they hurt and also Dragon Mage is scary. also have you thought of Font of Mythos ?

I will take a look at nekusar's favorite cards after prerelease, that way, all of the born cards are in the gatherer system so I don't skip over any of them when I build nekusar.

Just one other suggestion I thought of, Comet Storm over Starstorm

January 29, 2014 6:20 p.m.

Octrate says... #22

Comet Storm 's only plus to the deck is that it hits a player. Since I'll be doing more than enough damage to my opponents, I think I'd rather just blow up all the creatures that could be giving me trouble. If there are none, then I'll just cycle Starstorm .

Especially since creature heavy decks are the bane of my existence.

Stroke of Genius !!! And since you're force feeding him, he'll for sure throw up sooner or later. Liliana's Caress +Liliana Vess (since you have a lot of tutors) or Liliana of the Veil could come in handy.

January 30, 2014 3:38 a.m.

Octrate says... #25

CarlosEE: Thanks so much for your time and your comment! Now, Stroke of Genius is nice, but I'd sooner run Prosperity or Minds Aglow to hit multiple opponents and gain benefits for myself. That being said, I'd like to keep my mana open for counter-spells or activated effects. However, I'll still test it, just to make sure. Liliana's Caress has been excluded from this list, because while I still run wheel effects, I just don't think that (roughly) ten sorceries are enough to warrant their inclusion. Lastly, Liliana Vess is such a bad-ass, especially with her type of power to tutor. I'll give her a test. Thanks again, CarlosEE.
