Cool to hear a new player getting into it the right way. What sort of price range are you looking to deal with? G/W is potentially one of the most expensive decks out there outside of Solar Flare, but it can be done on a budget also.

I want to keep the cost fairly low. She just bought her first packs (I'm so proud), but I don't think she wants to invest a lot of money into it.

+1 for a fun deck, and I would switch a singleton for the Garruk, maybe rebuke, not very useful as a singleton imo.

An interesting deck for sure.

Maybe go 4x Doomed Traveler as it's a nice one drop plus Mayor of Avabruck  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Howlpack Alpha will boost it.

Also 4x Razorverge Thicket and Gavony Township , Razorverge will help the mana split and Gavony will be a nice mana sink later on.

Maybe drop Lumberknot as it is a bit expensive to play and will take awhile to pump up, besides, using Gavony Township will help your small creatures get big before Lumberknot can.

I'd also put two more Timely Reinforcements into the sideboard, maybe even side all of them. Because there are several life gain cards as well as cheap creatures, so Timely Reinforcements may end up as a dead draw.

Just some of my thoughts on improvement. Also, +1.

I am giving this a plus one for a number of reasons:1. A full set of Fog, a card that is under utilized and can be a game changer if used properly (Plus it really irks your opponent when they swing with everything. Leaves them nice and open)2. Lumberknot is another deadly and under utilized card. Playing it early, which is pretty easy in a green deck, can spell disaster for many players late game.

I do think the deck itself could use a big green bruiser in it for late game, just in case it runs into anything like a titan. Something like Chancellor of the Tangle or Moldegraf Monstrosity could prove to be fun and cheap options. Hope she continues to have fun with it!

Sounds good. I agree with 4 Doomed Traveler . 4 Travel Preparations too.

One thing I suggest is picking up the Hold The Line event deck from Innistrad. It's $20 but considering that you get 7 rares (2 of which are worth $18 by themselves) plus tons and tons of great commons and uncommons that will fit this perfectly it's soso worth the cost of 6 packs.

Other stuff: Midnight Haunting (especially this), Hamlet Captain , Gatstaf Shepherd  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Gatstaf Howler, Villagers of Estwald  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Howlpack of Estwald, card:Avacyn's Pilgrim, Darkthicket Wolf , Lead the Stampede , Ambush Viper

@IAmKingTony: Which two cards are $18 in that deck?

Sorry that this is off topic.

Mirran Crusader , he's been on the rise and you'll probably find him in most card shops at 8 or 9 bucks as a single.

You get 2 of those in there.

Ah. Didn't know Crusader was going up.

A story we need to hear more around here. brofist

Above all, it really needs a more focused strategy. Is it ramp? Humans? creaturesmashfacecontrol? Pod, even?

?'s depend on preference and metagame.

Cards that should probably go out:Stonehorn Dignitary Carnage Wurm Titanic Growth card:Butcher's CleaverVillage Bell-Ringer ?Mayor of Avabruck  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Howlpack Alpha?Lumberknot ?

Cards that you might look at:Travel Preparations (definite 4 of)Doomed Traveler (more or less, depends)card:Avacyn's PilgrimAcidic Slime Garruk (any/all)Mirran Crusader Caravan Vigil Gut Shot ?Viridian Emissary ?Sideboard stuff:Celestial Purge Creeping Corrosion Timely Reinforcements sided?Witchbane Orb ?Giant Spider outcard:Angel's Mercy outIf you'd like justification or clarification on any point, feel free to ask. Good luck and happy Magicking! Give your sis my best wishes.

sweet, 2-2!

A neat card with Lumberknot would be Divine Reckoning ...

Thanks for the awesome suggestions! Lots of stuff to think about.

December 18, 2011 3:50 a.m.

I like the list just some cards need more multiples, Doomed Traveler needs more than 1 copy as he becomes another creature when he dies.

Hey good for her, always nice when a nube goes 2-2 at the start, although when one of my friends started he went 3-1 and was win in 1st and lose in 6th, but on the bright side, not bad for a rookie.

Extremely inconsistent and no real gameplay plan imho.

How do you win? Hope for a good draw and just attack?

This deck could either need card:Green Sun's Zenith or Birthing Pod (and a fitting curve) for consistency reasons. E.g. getting you Tree of Redemption when you need it.

Birthing Pod could act as gameplay plan, other possible plans or themes could be GW Humans (obviously more humans), resilent stuff (like Thrun!)+ equipment or plain and simple GW Aggro. For a real GW Aggro plan you would need to focus a lot more on aggressive creatures and on your mana curve.

Following cards don't really fit into an aggro plan, at least mainboard.

1x Suture Priest1x Stonehorn Dignitary1x Carnage Wurm2x Tree of Redemption1x Lumberknot

You should rather add more impact aggressive creatures like Hero of Bladehold and Blade Splicer .

Beside my harsh sounding words(?): For starters a quite nice deck non the less!

I like the deck, but it does need to be more focused in the sideboard and mainboard. Then it will be more consistent.

This sort of reminds me of turbo fog. Maybe consider adding blue and Venser, the Sojourner .

I've found that with newbie decks, tutors are a BLESSING while the deck waits for more good cards (and are still good even after). card:Green Sun's Zenith would be an excellent card to go looking for.

Looking at the cards, I think that the deck would make an excellent token deck. Parallel Lives would make Mayor of Avabruck  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Howlpack Alpha, Doomed Traveler , and Timely Reinforcements all make more tokens. Village Bell-Ringer and Gavony Township are now much more useful. And Lumberknot + Divine Reckoning are an unexpected win condition; no one really expects you to wipe your field of tokens, and then you get a gigantic beast to tear through whatever monster your opponent left standing.

I hope your sister enjoys playing! :)

Thanks for all of the feedback and constructive criticism.

She is really digging the game, and will be going to her second FNM this week.

We will be tweaking the deck this week, and I will post the updates later.

Celestial Flare maybe as a sideboard against indestructibles, hexproofs, and the like.

Sideboard Pithing Needle to deal with planeswalkers.

Sideboard Elixir of Immortality, perhaps, to use against mill.

Sideboard Spellskite for twin decks.

December 29, 2015 6:18 p.m.

perhaps a few journey to nowhere and/or path to exile for more removal, phyrexian unlife, and masked admirers for card draw.

lol. your sister sounds like me. Why to you have the woman with lightning breasts(Sunblast Angel). She destroys everybody's shit, and a lot of your shit. The hot lady riding a horse(Hero of Bladehold) is much better. She makes shit, doesn't destroy shit, and is hotter. Just some thoughts.

If Sunblast Angel destroys your creatures, you're playing it wrong.

It wouldn't take much to swap in a few more humans and add in an Angelic Overseer

You can take out Titanic Growth, and replace it with 4 Vines of Vastwood.

April 13, 2016 3:34 p.m.

AgNinja88 says... #25

I also recommend taking out Gavony Township. You can use that four mana for better things, and it's too slow.
