Modern Control Infinite Combo WUB (Esper)

Bargain-Bin

Sideboard

"I imprint Dramatic Reversal onto Isochron Scepter, Pyramid of the Pantheon has three Brick Counters on it. Infinite mana, Blue Sun's Zenith you for 800."

This is the typical endgame of my brother's passion project: Isochron Scepter Combo.

For those who don't know, Isochron Scepter Imprints an instant with CMC two or less when it enters the battlefield. You can then pay two mana and tap Isochron Scepter to cast a free copy of the spell. Dramatic Reversal untaps all non-land permanents you control. If you have one or more mana-producing creatures/artifacts that can net you one or more mana on each untap, you go infinite! Once this is assembled, an X costed spell like Blue Sun's Zenith can be used to finish off your opponent.

This isn't the easiest combo to pull off though, and true to my brother's style of play, this deck is chock-full of countermagic, card-draw, and disruption.

For your removal, Path to Exile and Fatal Push are effective spot-removal. Supreme Verdict is good against go-wide strategies.

This deck has lots of counters. Mana Leak is effective at disrupting your opponent's early plays, while Logic Knot scales really well in the late game. Muddle the Mixture adds versatility as a counter and a possible tutor for Dramatic Reversal, and Supreme Will is never a dead card, either countering or digging for better cards.

As for the utility cards, Opt, Search for Azcanta  , and Serum Visions will all help dig for combo pieces and answers. Angel's Grace by you as much time as you need when on an Isochron Scepter.

Snapcaster Mage allows you to reuse spells, and Wall of Omens generates card advantage and an effective blocker.

As for the sideboard, Laboratory Maniac and Exsanguinate are alternative wincons, for matchups against discard heavy decks, or decks that run hate like Slaughter Games. Thoughtseize get rid of enemy hate cards or combo pieces. Detention Sphere and Engineered Explosives can be brought in against cards like Stony Silence and Pithing Needle in the event they resolve, and are also good for removing creatures, enchantments, and artifacts that might pose a threat. Relic of Progenitus for graveyard hate, a Lost Legacy to remove a combo piece or particularly dangerous card. Finally, two Spell Pierces for control mirrors, or when more cheap countermagic is needed.
