Flamespeaker Beatdown

This is a deck I have had and been changing up for a long time. Part of the reason I love it is because I haven't really seen a whole lot of decks like this. I could be wrong but this deck is original. Unlike a lot of my decks where I do research into builds similar to what I'm going for this deck was started from scratch. In that way it feels like one of my most oiginal decks and thus one of my favorites. In this wide world of magic I'm sure that there have been similar things done but this is my version of a scrying beat down deck that revolves around one amazingly fun card: Flamespeaker Adept .

The idea for this deck started simple. I enjoyed scrying when playing magic. When I first got into magic (around Amonket) I looked back on older sets and found Theros. Loved the whole Greek mythology thing it had going so I bought a bunch of packs and cards from the set leaving me with a lot of cool scry cards. I have since added cards form other sets but that's the origins of this deck now lets move onto how the deck works.

So it goes something like this: Get out Flamespeaker Adept , scry a whole bunch, then swing to win. Of course Magic is never that simple so we have some other things to help. Aqueous Form helps to make sure our Flamespeaker gets past pesky blockers while also pumping herself up every time she attacks. Samut's Sprint gives us some sweet pump and also haste. Magma Jet and Voyage's End both help get rid of problem cards and pump our Adept. Condescend and Dissolve offer us some protection from removal (although I do realize a Force of Negation or similar car would be better but are out of my price range). Opt , Witching Well , and Inquisitive Puppet are all cheap scry cards with the puppet also doubling as a nice blocker. Then we have our backup cards. Stormchaser Mage is cheap and fast. He can get in some chip damage early on or block pretty well. With the right hand he can also do some serious damage thanks to prowess and win the game for us if all our Adepts get removed. Sphinx of Foresight is a great card but at 4 CMC I feel running two is enough. Finally we have Thassa, God of the Sea who I would like two of I think but I only own one. She scrys, can help us get past blockers, and can be a nice indestructible body with the right board state.

I'm still working on the side board. I've thought about throwing a Young Pyromancer in somewhere for a more go wide back up plan if the Adept strategy is out but I feel like that might not fit the spirit of the deck. I know this will likely never be super competitive but I would like for this to be the best deck it can be.

It's not a hyper competitive deck but it's mine and I love it. Any and all suggestions for improving the deck are welcome.
