What is the Chain Veil for? it only loses you life, you dont run a single walker

November 17, 2016 11:18 a.m.

It's meant for when Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip transforms into Gideon, Battle-Forged  Flip, but he is the only planeswalker I have in this deck. Do you think it's worth having The Chain Veil, keeping in mind that I can tutor for it and for Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip using Captain Sisay? Or do you have other suggestions?

Nevermind you have Quirion Ranger. I still suggest Seeker of Skybreak though.

Thank you for the suggestions, ShotgunCrocodile! I'm also running Thousand-Year Elixir, Scryb Ranger, Nature's Chosen, and Gideon, Battle-Forged  Flip (Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip transformed). Do you think it would still be useful to run another untapper in the form of Seeker of Skybreak?

Also, thank you for the suggestions, Auronit and ShotgunCrocodile, it seems like The Chain Veil would be better in a superfriends deck, or if I had Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip in this deck, as well. I've replaced The Chain Veil with Kamahl, Fist of Krosa, but am still curious as to whether I'm running enough untappers.

Thanks for the +1 on my deck. As for suggestions, I wonder whether the mono colores Theros Gods (Heliod, God of the Sun and Nylea, God of the Hunt) have a home in this deck. both are very hard to deal with, give nice benefits to your whole board (even when they are not creatures) and pack quite a punch. Akroma's Memorial can be tutored up as well and if it's not delt with instantaneously it' ll win you the game within very few turns. Miight be out of your budget though (Sits at a whopping 13$, gz...). Saffi Eriksdotter can protect another legend, including Sisay. Further protection for your legends include Champion's Helm, which also buffs. Maybe Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant? Please note that I have never played Sisay, these are just cards that come to mind. Odric, Lunarch Marshal can also be pretty good I guess. Some of your legends have flying, trample, indestructable... idk. Last but not least, let me mention Yeva, Nature's Herald.

I tried to think of possible budget cards that I imagine work well with Sisay but as mentioned, I have never played the deck myself. Maybe you find something you like in here, maybe you don't. After all it should be your deck and the most important thing in EDH is to just have fun.

No problem, and thank you for the suggestions! I already have Yeva, Nature's Herald in the deck, so that's taken care of, and Akroma's Memorial and Champion's Helm are unfortunately out of my budget. I like the suggestions of Heliod, God of the Sun and Nylea, God of the Hunt, but I do already have a quasi-vigilance granter in Masako the Humorless (note that her ability allows creatures to block even after using tap abilities, not just attacking) and two trample granters in Dragon Throne of Tarkir and Kamahl, Fist of Krosa, so I'll probably just stick with those.

Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant is a pretty sweet card, but I really only have Dragonlord Dromoka, Bow of Nylea, and Swords to Plowshares for lifegain in this deck, so I have a hard time seeing myself flipping this. Thoughts?

However, I forgot how incredible Odric, Lunarch Marshal could be! Although I already have quasi-vigilance, trample, and deathtouch granters for my whole board, it would be great to have a way to share first strike, flying, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, and reach among all of my creatures. So many sick keywords! I have replaced Kodama of the North Tree with Odric, Lunarch Marshal.

Happy to see that you found something! Must have missed Yeva there. What goes for Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant, I think flipping him isn't too hard. You start with 40 life in commander (so he flipps after ETB) if you haven't lost too much life. If yuo tutor him early, he is pretty much a guaranteed flip. What I like about the card (especially in Sisay) is that it can be tutored if needed. You won't tutor him into 3 control decks but you might wan't to tutor him into creature decks early on. I would probably replace Commander Eesha. Eesha is nice but I don't think it is good enough. You are kind of playing a toolbox deck, that finds answers to problems easily. But while Eesha's protection from creatures is nice, I don't think it makes a huge difference given the relatively low power. On the other hand Rune-Tail is an answer to a lot of decks (drop it vs Edric, Animar, Yisan, pretty much any Elf deck, Saskia, Kaalia, Alesha, Prossh, Karador, Ezuri and so on). Just make sure to get it out early, otherwise yuo might get problems flipping it.

Thank you for the explanation, Auronit, I really appreciate it! I will look for a Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant, then, and if I find one, consider the swap you mentioned.

No problem, always happy to help. I ll see if my LGS has one and if they do, I ll get it for you. Consider it a small gift from a guy that likes your deck and appreciates you taking suggestions seriously. Can't promise anything though, I don't know if they have one.

Oh wow, ok, thank you for looking, I really appreciate it! I'm happy to pay for it if you do find it. If not, no worries, I can probably find it online somewhere. I really do enjoy feedback, especially when members like you offer very helpful suggestions that I wouldn't have considered initially.
