awesome design! nice name too. reminds me of a Winter Orb deck I used to have... and a Stasis deck too. Winter Orb may even be a good option for this too...

Your lack of AEther Vial 's disturbs me

I know a set of AEther Vial is almost a given in these fish builds, but i dropped them for a set of Chalice of the Void . Ideally the chalice will hit the board with 1 counter turn 1 or 2 which would counter all the one drops. I can prevent my creatures from being countered with Cavern of Souls but the vial would be a dead card. Dead cards are bad news in legacy.

I know it doesn't work outside of commander because its drop is too high to run but Stormtide Leviathan would be hilarious in this deck if you had Master of the Pearl Trident on the field.

Not a real suggestion, just a funny thought.

I had a few Spreading Seas in my sideboard at one point for that great islandwalk abilities my lords give. In my local meta everybody but a Mud and burn deck i see run some kind of island, so I haven't been too concerned lately. Stormtide Leviathan is fat as hell, but I would never be able to hard cast him, and unfortunately he doesn't stop Emrakul, the Aeons Torn so his sideboard use i nil. That would be one great day on the water if you landed a fish like that. The artwork is pretty great too, I like the ship about to get pummeled.

for 4 AEther Vial - the best one drop you can have and either 3 Master of Waves or 3 Spell Pierce .

Mishra's Factory is not a very good one-of. It's either 4 or 0, and in fish I would recommend 0 since you already are running 4x Mutavault , which is the better of the two in a fish deck. Also, 4x AEther Vial is an absolute must for this deck. No fish deck is competitive without it.

I've been running a variant of this deck for over a decade now. It started with an Opposition +Static Orb combo. The longest span of the decks life has included AEther Vial , Standstill , Daze , and Merrow Reejerey abusing the vial. I was always disturbed by how similar it was to the modern counterpart. So about 2 months ago I swapped in Cosi's Trickster , Chalice of the Void , Sygg, River Cutthroat , and a few more True-Name Nemesis n Phantasmal Image . So far I have found this build not only to be more effective for more turns, but a bit more skill based. The vial and Daze lost effectiveness the longer a game went on, I would be forced to Daze while the opponent had the extra mana giving them the choice. I went all hard counters here, no BS. A few questions I do have concerning this build,

1) A combonation of 1xSygg, River Cutthroat 1xCounterspell , 1xWaterfront Bouncer , 1xCounterbalance , 1xMisdirection , or 2x of any of the five?

2) 1x, 2x, or 0 Mishra's Factory ?

3) 3xChalice of the Void 1xUmezawa's Jitte , or 4xChalice of the Void ?

4) 2xRelic of Progenitus , or 2xTormod's Crypt ?

5) 1xNull Rod , or 1xHurkyl's Recall ?

6) 2xNegate 2xEchoing Truth , or 1xNegate 1xEchoing Truth and 2xBack to Basics or 2xGilded Drake ?

7) 2xThorn of Amethyst , or 2xSwan Song ?
