Living fancy, free, and deathouchy! Trying my hand at brewing for pauper. With the release of Thieves' Tools and the Thriving cards from jump start, we now have a lot of flexible access to off colors in black! Gameplan is to play an aggressive/ midrange rakdos deck that can silver bullet into card draw and sideboard stuff!
First off, the main inspiration for the deck is Stolen Vitality. This card is a super flexible battle trick! When paired with deathtouch, on our turn it enables us to get in some hefty damage no matter how they block. On their turn, it can be a removal spell, giving our death touch creatures first strike!
The other card I tried to fit in here is Of One Mind. A potential one mana draw two? Sign me up! Both Aether Poisoner and Cateran Persuader (which is a human mercenary) can produce both a human and nonhuman, making it easy to get the requirements.
Onto the rogues! Dhund Operative and the fangblade pair well with the Viridian Longbow and Spare Dagger, with us able to ping things down with deathtouch. Frogtosser Banneret is an aggressive cost reducer for our rogues. Changeling Outcast can get in for some unblockable damage and easily trigger prowl. Oh yeah! We're giving Morsel Theft a try! Dealing three damage, gaining three life AND drawing us a card seems to be right up an aggressive deck's alley!
I will admit that I am relatively new to the pauper metagame this year, so some help on the sideboard would be nice! From what I can remember, Standard Bearer is a hose card for decks like Boggles. Krark-Clan Shaman works against the prevalent storm decks out there. And a spicy card I think needs some love is Battlefield Scrounger. It's a weird card for sure. A 3/3 potentially 6/6 for 5 mana is JUST above Gurmag Zone, plus it helps against fringe mill deck strategies!
Let me know what you think/ how I can improve! I've included some of the other cards that I've been looking at in the Maybeboard. I might play around with the ratios, making it a bit more like an elf deck, or could dial back the aggro strat and make it more midrange rainbow control! Having a blast theory crafting this bad boy!
