Let's start out with the new king of the lions: Brimaz! look at him at a simple creature perspective, he's a 3/4 for 3, which already wins the vanilla test. add in vigilance, and that makes a pretty tasty creature. I may not run him in everything, but he's a surefire pick in limited and a great choice in standard. reminds me of Rhox War Monk, who is a boss. But wait, isn't Brimaz a mythic? well what makes him so much better than the uncommon Rhox? he has abilities? What? He has two instances token dropping??? When he attacks or blocks he creates a 1/1 cat with vigilance which subsequently attack and block with you. The blocker blocks the same creature as Brimaz, but the attacker can attack wherever he likes! Truly a brutal force to deal with; amazingly enough it's a strictly better Hero of Bladehold, a power in it's time!

But how can he compare as a commander? Well, the best way to compare is with synergy and flavor. Stacking up against other staple white-weenie commanders, such as Pianna, Nomad Captain, Kongming, "Sleeping Dragon", or Odric, Master Tactician, he doesn't necessarily provide the bonuses you need. He creates a few tokens, but they'll mostly become trump blockers, and unless you're running multiple anthems, they aren't going to truly make a difference in your game. but he's also the cheapest cmc, and low cmc is always good for getting commanders out early, which means they can be used faster.

How about theme decks? I generally would see him as part of cat theme, but if they're are other themes feel free to suggest them to me. Not surprisingly, he actually has a lot of competition in the mono white cats format, specifically Raksha Golden Cub, Jareth, Leonine Titan, and Kemba, Kha Regent. Now, all of them are actually very powerful commanders, and each brings different powers and potential to the table. Jareth Mainly helps himself, while Raksha actually gives a huge boost and is very flavorful to all cats. Kemba and Brimaz are very similar in what they do. I think that when it gets down to it, they are actually the best of the 4 and far to similar in their strengths. while you might not get as many Kemba tokens as fast as you would Brimaz, you are more likely to lose Brimaz over Kemba seeing as you would have to attack with Brimaz, and 2/2 tokens out way 1/1 vigilance tokens. However, this is also the reason why Brimaz is also less likely to be targeted by players. A few trump tokens or two every turn makes him a casually aggressive commander with the ability to become scary quickly, especially throwing a Raksha in your board.

So what's his breakdown?

Usefulness = 7/10

Synergy = 5/10

Flavor/Theme = 8/10

Fun Factor = 8/10

Opponent Unfun Factor = 3/10

Overall? 6/10 (63%)
