Throne Warden

Creature — Human Soldier

At the beginning of your end step, if you're the monarch, put a +1/+1 counter on Throne Warden.

There are a bunch of cool low cmc humans/soldiers that make for fun games. Older synergies like Preeminent Captain / Ballyrush Banneret / Cenn's Tactician / Veteran's Armaments exist, cards like Akroan Crusader / Hero of the Nyxborn enable token/buff strategies with target spells, Ancestral Blade Strength of Arms and Auriok Steelshaper enable equipment synergy, Boros Keyrune is cute tribal ramp, recent Standard has a bunch of soldier tokens kicking around, from Forbidden Friendship to Garrison Cat to Haazda Marshal , older formats have cards that have fallen out of favour like Goblin Trenches while newer sets have cards that didn't see play like Memorial to Glory , there are infinite combos out there with Patrol Signaler , Timely Reinforcements / Even the Odds / Martial Coup is a thing.

Humans/soldiers is amazing because it is incredibly flexible in casual play. You can play a singleton deck, still have a deck that feels great to play, while the people facing you don't know whether you built a Haazda Marshal / Breath of Fury combo list ,a Haze of Rage go wide, Cauldron Haze midrange or Gather the Townsfolk brinksmanship/control.

Don't worry too hard about what exactly goes into the list, just worry about the curve being about right and filling it with fun cards. Things like Palace Sentinels / Throne Warden can be amazing fun despite being unsuitable for competitive play.

I would switch Throne Warden with Palace Jailer. If you end up exiling a threat (like an eldrazi), your other opponents may be less likely to go for the crown.

And with all those creatures, a Marshal's Anthem may come in handy; it also boosts Sphere of Safety. I'd swap it in for Spy Kit, since the artifact doesn't do much outside of draft.

EDedan Thank you!

I considered Throne Warden very carefully, the fact is that I feel it being not on the same page as the deck as it doesn't add value in comparison with other creatures that occupy slots, for this reason it is higly improbable that I would choose to protect it from removals. Also I think I would cast it when I can really cast nothing else that could give me more resources.

Still this is my opinion and it may actually be the card that this deck needs to put heavy pressure on the opponent. I will give it a try taking off 1 Stormbound Geist and maybe one between Serrated Arrows or Rhystic Study.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion!

Sweet sideboard :D really like that Aura Flux to destroy Mono-white heroic and Boogles decks :D

what do you think about Throne Warden? can be good as a regular 2/2 bear and gets stronger if you have a monarch token out on the battlefield.

The only vote card you're missing is Messenger Jays; just wanted to point that out.

Given the fact that each of your commanders are focused on political card draw, it would be pretty awesome if this deck also had a subtheme of being the monarch. I would add Canal Courier and Keeper of Keys, which both have synergy with Tymna, Custodi Lich and Palace Jailer for extra removal, Garrulous Sycophant to trigger Ludevic, Knights of the Black Rose, Protector of the Crown as an additional pillow fort effect, Queen Marchesa, Skyline Despot, Throne of the High City, and Throne Warden.

Hey, I have no idea what sort of deck you're going for, it doesn't have a great deal of focus. But, you say you want a fun deck, so here are some cards to have a look at, hopefully some interest you.

Jace's Archivist is good fun on the field, huge refresh power and a mill engine as well, pop Jace's Erasure on the field as well and you're good to go!

Recruiter of the Guard lets you search for a guy, which we love. Sacred Mesa lets you make loads of Pegasuses? Pegasi? Well, you'll have a lot of those winged horsed that's for sure! You'll kill a lot as well though, but they are sort of asking for it. Works weirdly well with Skirsdag High Priest, classic combo...

Victimize is crazy awesome. Liliana's Reaver is a cheap and powerhouse four drop, a mini Grave Titan!

Palace Jailer lets you become the monarch! Woop woop! Custodi Lich does as well, and so do the Knights of the Black Rose! We love being the monarch. And so does the Throne Warden.

Finally Mystic Confluence is a decent and versatile Esper card.

Just some cheap and fun cards to have a think about.

Third revision:

-1 Intrepid Hero, -1 Throne Warden; +1 Crescendo of War, +1 Boros Battleshaper

The two cards I took out were not as political, though there were solid low cmc creatures. Crescendo of War helps my opponents kill each other while encouraging them to attack someone other than me. Boros Battleshaper just fits so well with what I want to do--direct opponents at each other--by making someone attack (possibly with a utility creature that needs to go) and helping clear a path by keeping a blocker unable to block. My only worry is that I'm increasing the average cmc of the deck. But considering I usually play in slower games, I don't think that'll be much of an issue.
