Creature — Beast

: Turn Mischievous Quanar face down.

king-saproling on Pokemon EDH - 111% altered art

5/3/2021 Update - completed Mischievous Quanar (Mimikyu) and Master of the Veil (Substitute Doll). Mimikyu is my favorite so far. Even though it's nothing fancy in the world of alters, I'm proud of the concept and execution. It's based on the card art for Flying Pikachu.

So for the substitute doll I was googling reference images and found a great MS Paint rendition (which for the life of me I cant relocate - even reverse image search returns 0 results). Anyway I really liked the janky simplicity of it and decided to replicate it. I think the minimalist, imperfect design is reminiscent of the early days of pokemon card art. I'm pretty proud of the concept for this one too. Turning up a Master of the Veil to flip down another morph is as if that other morph set a Sub Doll.

Mischievous Quanar and Erratic Explosion from Pulverize deck - Scourge edition. Does MQ copy the result from one draw of Erratic Explosion or do I reveal twice for two results?

Muraganda Petroglyphs: What's better than a 3 mana 2/2 with an unknown ability? a 3 mana 4/4 with an unknown ability.

Voidmage Apprentice: counterspells that can interrupt split second are generally good.

Mischievous Quanar: Fuck your counterspells! And other stuff. I want an Apex of Power, too!

Aphetto Runecaster: More card draw is never bad; worst case scenario, you add a lab man and become a real dousche.

Echo Tracer: Redo! (Or removal)

Weaver of Lies: Redo all of your other morphs, and then turn your echo tracer face up again and return this to your hand, then cast it for free with Kadena? Seems good.

Tidal Barracuda: Flash is really good with Kadena, and fucking the speed at which your opponents play is always good.

Master of the Veil: Similar to Weaver, but less mana overall.

Dream Chisel: ... duh?

Wilderness Reclamation: Untap to do all them morphs on other people's turns. Extremely powerful. And you can fuck with the amount of mana you can produce by responding to the trigger like people were doing in standard.

Leyline of Anticipation: Again, flash. Also, free more often than you think.

MagicMarc All good. I think if we were in the same playgroup we'd be the best of friends since I'm the Janky Combo Guy who somehow is competitive at most of the stores I play at in Sydney Australia.

griffstick I'm so glad that more people are using morphs now. The amount of stuff you can get away with is so good. E.g Cast a spell, Stack a split second spell, then unmorph Mischievous Quanar to copy the spell and put it on top of the split second spell. Janky way to make spells uncounterable :P

Trail of Mystery is a really budget card that pretty much will let all of your morph costs tutor a basic land for you as well.

Unblinking Bleb will help with some top deck manipulation whenever you morph one of your creatures.

Mischievous Quanar Is interesting for its ability to copy spells, which can come in handy if your opponent plays something difficult.

Primordial Mist is something that will get you more bodies and potentially let you get some more morph creatures on the board.

Whisperwood Elemental is another card that will let you manifest some extra bodies onto the board which can be good for some additional morphs.

lastly Muraganda Petroglyphs is something that really helps the deck if you just don't have the mana to morph your creatures since then they will at least be 4/4 bodies instead of 2/2 ones and odds are it shouldn't help your opponents since no one really plays vanilla creatures in edh.

+1 frome definitely. Looks fun. Heavy on the morph mechanic. Idk if I've ever seen Mischievous Quanar before! Having a bunch keeps ppl guessing. Day's Undoing is another neat one after you dump your hand

I'd maybe suggest a little more draw card? Secret Plans, Thrasios, Triton Hero, Shaman of the Great Hunt, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, Consecrated Sphinx, etc. Most are expensive tho. There's tutors but you're not going for combo so eh

Animar is the best; I hope you smash your friends!

Infinite Reflection doesn't go infinite with any of the indicated cards as far as I can tell (doesn't affect tokens).

Wake Thrasher gets infinite power with Tidewater Minion and Aphetto Alchemist, (while all the cards are listed, the combo isn't)

Filigree Sages makes infinite mana with Prismatic Geoscope

Worldgorger Dragon makes infinite mana with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker (again cards are there combo isn't)

Seedcradle Witch makes infinite mana with Bloom Tender

Palinchron makes infinite mana with Mana Flare and Heartbeat of Spring

Aetherwind Basker makes infinite energy and combat steps with Lightning Runner

Reality Spasm makes infinite mana with Meletis Charlatan, Echo Mage, Reiterate, Mischievous Quanar and probably a bunch of other cards I can't remember.
