How do Reyhan and Ishai serve you over Vorosh? I like your little Incubation Druid + Llanowar Reborn synergy, I might try this!

Speaking of creatures that like a graft, you should check Basking Broodscale which can go infinite with every other card...

Perhaps Agonasaur Rex is also a card worth considering. It grants a card, counters and evasion/protection in a pinch, but it also has a little synergy with the likes of Evolution Witness. Rex can be recurred continually, serving as a counter and carddraw manasink.

And perhaps i am mistaken, but i miss a bit of Oomph in the decklist. Any thoughts on Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord (usually 7 mana wincon), The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride (usually 5 mana win next turn) or Blade of Selves (swing with Reyhan, place 6 x 3 counters on anything)?

Thanks Balaam__! Just the lands, otherwise I always set it to og printing :) And indeed the very ye olde schoole Yavimaya Elder was part of the inspiration for this; I thought "this is an EDH card so surely it's pauper playable," I tried out a couple decks but I think it works really nice here with the Explore type cards and Evolution Witness to get it back. Witness is the backbone of the deck I think, I wanted to incorporate these from the start for grind power because that's where gruul can fall off against interactive midrangey decks that can curtail your quick power plays then stabilize. So that's what informed the choice to use the recurrable land destruction bodies :)

amarthaler Hey thanks! Lol I'm surprised you found this I haven't deckcycled it at all yet... Right so I built this around Mold Shambler being a Sowing Mycospawn impersonation for pauper since land destruction on a body is really good for obvs. reasons. So far the deck seems to be able to ramp into them pretty well, if you curve out perfect it's Turn 1 Arboreal Grazer > Turn 2 Thermokarst > Turn 3 Mwonvuli Acid-Moss > Turn 4 kicked Mold Shambler, so that feels pretty sick when it happens. And Faultgrinder is there to infinitely recur using Evolution Witness+Treetop Snarespinner blowing up lands every turn at the top end. Thresher Beast is a cool rec but I think it might fall a bit short in the face of killspells, since it has an attack trig and not an ETB? Thanks for checkin' out the deck!

Yuna is very much alike Reyhan, Last of the Abzan *f-etch*, and if i could share you a few cheeky tactics off my own:

  • Starfall Invocation — Yuna's ability goes on the stack, but if you gift a card there is a new creature on the board after the Invocation resolved to target. You keep all counters on the board.
  • Evolution Witness — on it's own it is already great, if you target the witness with a cycled Agonasaur Rex you can repeatedly grow counters and draw cards (on top of granting evasion and indestructible).
  • Willbreaker — Yuna's ability never states that it is limited to your creatures. Steal the board and ruin friendships with willbreaker and a sac outlet.
  • Walking Archive — Reyhan is very capable of gathering 100+ counters on the archive, passing turn and draw everyone out. I Bet Yuna is too!
  • Giggling Skitterspike — Gather only 40 power and swing/block/target?
  • Springheart Nantuko /Nyxborn Hydra — Anything bestow will stay around for Yuna to target after a boardwipe.

You're def on the right track KBK7101, since God-Eternal Bontu was included in the stock precon list (along with Korvold, Fae-Cursed King and The Gitrog Monster).

Bontu is solid for sure. I've used it in a couple of Aristocrats decks before. I'll reconsider it as I play-test more, especially if I feel like I need another pseudo-evasive beater.

I want to put this deck together in paper, but am weighing my options on picking up the last 7 cards I don't currently own:

I'm considering which proxy service is fastest, or maybe picking up a couple of the cards listed here, and swapping the other slots for cards I already own in the next accordion block:

These are all prime candidates for swaps, until I figure out how and which of the others to pick up:

Other candidates for consideration:

Hey jonjonhholt, really glad you dig the build and thanks a bunch for the suggestions! I have thought about the other landcycle creatures and tried Ents in here before but ultimately I decided on Sagu mainly because of that card's ability to grab untapped sources of either of the secondary colors. This is important sometimes for casting a timely Lorien or Sulfurous Blast since each have double pips. Krushok is a sweet card and it did cross my mind to run this + Evolution Witness since this loops and functions as a mana sink, which would be awesome with the mana you get in this deck but I decided this package would probably take up too much space in the list. But considered by itself I think Nyxborn ends up winning out at least for this build.

The Ozolith recycle counters. Reyhan, Last of the Abzan *f-etch* Host of the Hereafter works too.
