I have a feeling that the new sorin is going to be an instant add in. Will only make it more control and closer to super friends.

Mainboard Update
Steimtime, 13 years ago
Added a second Snapcaster Mage in place of a Negate. Not sure how I feel about it, but I'm going to playtest it anyways. I still have the ability to counter 10 spells + 2x Snapcaster Mages, and I sb ANOTHER Negate for early Shrine/Planeswalker trouble. Also, still looking for some solid answers against U/W Control.

Update 1
ghost89, 13 years ago
After play testing a very rough version of this deck, I've determined that Apostle's Blessing is an absolute four of. Arc Trail was under-performing considering that I already have mass removal in Slagstorm and pinging ability in Gut Shot and Shock. I'm considering splashing four dual lands to play the Apostle's Blessing, but right now I find that I usually only have one mana free anyway.
Other than that revelation, the most major changes have come in the sideboard. I've decided to make the predominant focus of the sideboard a splash of blue to counter control decks. 4 Sulfur Falls for the needed blue mana, 4 Turn Aside (the best standard card in terms of protecting your permanents imho) and Combust to handle late game threats. I kept two Whipflare and one Rolling Temblor to aid in board wipe against aggro and token decks.
Any suggestions here? Maybe on the sideboard? I'm considering going all out blue in the sideboard, including adding an Island and two Negate. Part of me think's Apostle's Blessing isn't enough protection. Maybe I should find slots for 2 to 4 Swiftfoot Boots? But I have no idea what I'd drop...

Also I would like some sideboard ideas too.Joonbug, 13 years ago
Took 4x Island out and added 4x Nephalia Drownyard. Removed some other cards to put in 4x Walking Corpse for more cheap zombies.

learned that my meta was heavy with tempered steel, wolf-run, illusion variant's, and RDW, so this deck needs to be more capable with aggro. the illusion variants im not worried about, once i get up a Burning Vengeance i can take down the illusions by targetting them, and they have to find Lord of the Unreal and Phantasmal Image to avoid me wiping their board. tempered steel decks are mostly solved by the 3 sideboarded Ancient Grudge, coming in place of past in flames and think twice. Wolf-run can be dealt with by bringing out Spellskite and protecting it, and as an added bonus Flashfreezeing what they try to play (Primeval Titan). my main concern is RDW. theres kuldotha, shrine, aggro, and many many other variants that it can run. so this is my reasoning with my sideboard changes.
-2 Nihil Spellbomb, -1 Flashfreeze
+1 Arc Trail, +2 Dragon's Claw
Arc trail because i need obvious early game protection if i dont hit Delver of Secrets Flip. the Dragon's Claws are in the board because it acts as a counter to Shrine of Burning Rage, and then some. whenever they cast a spell, their shrine ticks up... but so does my life. then, when I play MY red spells, i get even MORE life, countering the upkeep counters they get on the shrine, and more. if someone has a better idea (other than destroying the shrine: i swap in the ancient grudges anyway. its just nice to have the life gain on top of it all) then please suggest it... and not Vulshok Refugee... i dont have the time to play a 3 drop heavy in red just for 3 damage a turn, especially when he can't block Stromkirk Noble, Chandra's Phoenix or Stormblood Berserker)
as always, comment and +1! and ignore the goons who always comment about solar flare... -__-

Updated Sideboard

Added Steel Sabotage and Mental Misstep to the sideboard to combat the typical graveyard hate cards (ie Nihil Spellbomb and Surgical Extraction). Also added Gnaw to the Bone to the board for aggro match-ups.

I'm trying to make this as competitive as I can, so I added a bit of a sideboard. I've got the Ancient Grudge to take care of all manner of pesky artifacts from Phyrexian Metamorph to any of the swords. I also threw in Nihil Spellbomb because Snapcaster Mage is a tricky little bastard. I'd take out Gitaxian Probe for the spellbombs, not sure about the grudges yet. This is my first attempt at a sideboard let alone a competitive deck, so any help in this area would be great :D

Update -2
drcappuccino, 13 years ago
Added in Invisible Stalker and took out Boneyard Wurm. Worked wonderfully. the wurm synergize with the graveyard theme, but the lack of trample and the fact that it can be block by a stupid 1/1 token reduced its effectiveness. Took out Bonehoard and replaced those with Wreath of Geists. The reason for this is because of the lower mana cost and lower price. As for Dream Twists, I decided not to use that card, because I have no problem in milling myself. The only problem is to get the correct card in a specific situation. I personally like this version very much, but anymore comments are welcome :)
