What it is:
it wants to be an introductory deck for my wife, who has never played MTG, yet able to win some matches.
It is an easy to play aggro R/G deck.
Cost-effective critters, removal, and some simple mechanics like evolve or scry.
Some details:
A friend suggested to stay away from blue, combo, control, etc, and focus on simple play.He suggested some elves with red direct damage.I have added Deadbridge Goliath, just for the sake of the Timmy that lives in us (it seems like an absurdly powerful 5/5 for 4 Converted Mana Cost and without drawbacks like its classic peers (
Juzam Djinn
,
Erhnam Djinn
,
Balduvian Horde
...), and Experiment One because I want to see it playing without making Symic decks...
Magus of the Moon is mainboarded on purpose, to disrupt every 3 coloured deck or decks relying heavily on non basic lands (fetchlands for shocklands, etc), yet to add to the creature count instead of featuring Blood Moon.
Reforge the Soul is another concession to my early days beginning to play MTG under Revised Edition, where I think any of us among my friends would include Wheel of Fortune if playing red...
Finally, the deck tries to stay on budget (hence no Tarmogoyf), aside of Scavenging Ooze, which just seems another absurdly green broken critter...
Maybe some creatures with shroud, hexproof, flanking, flying, reach, lifelink, deathtouch [not sure if the latter two exist under red or green] would be nice to complement introductory MTG...Maybe some artifacts too...
Suggestions are very welcome! Thanks in advance!
