Highest Rated "Deck" —May 6, 2012

Even though its not legitimately a deck, it has become the highest rated on TappedOut. Thanks for the attention to the idea everybody! Good luck to everyone!

My favorite card is JokulhaupsMTG Card: Jokulhaups, but since we are doing the best cards....

By far the best card ever printed was Force of WillMTG Card: Force of Will. It even shows by the play value.

The next best card is Cavern of SoulsMTG Card: Cavern of Souls. This card is going to be a major force in MANY decks here to come. It even makes goblins viable in legacy. That's a plus.

The third best card is probably Mana DrainMTG Card: Mana Drain. This card is nuts.

Recently got into RDW-esque decks and AVR didn't disappoint. Here's my top 3:

3) Mogg War MarshalMTG Card: Mogg War Marshal He's only a common, but elicits a groan from my friends whenever I play him because he usually sets up a....

2) Goblin GrenadeMTG Card: Goblin Grenade 5 damage? Count me in. Sac a Goblin? Eh, they're cheap. For a single red mana?! Sounds legit. This baby has won me multiple Modern matches, including one game where I dropped 3 in the same turn.

1) Thunderous WrathMTG Card: Thunderous Wrath I like the look of Miracle and a miracle Goblin Grenade (sans sacrifice) floats my boat pretty well. Collecting foils if anyone has them about.

Haha. Forgot Rule 1: No favorites. Best card printed? TarmogoyfMTG Card: Tarmogoyf I have been on the wrong end of that thing way too many times.

In no particular order...

  1. Force of WillMTG Card: Force of Will: A free counter... unthinkable.
  2. Jace, the Mind SculptorMTG Card: Jace, the Mind Sculptor: This card turned the meta upside down. Such a powerful card that allowed you to do a variety of things for only four mana. His ultimate is pretty much an automatic game-win, his 0 is a free BrainstormMTG Card: Brainstorm, another one of the better cards ever printed. His +2 ramps up to his ultimate and essentially allows you to monitor and control your opponents top-deck. His -1 just gets rid of your opponents' threats, no biggie.
  3. Show and TellMTG Card: Show and Tell: Simple insanity, you can drop a game-breaking creature, such as Emrakul, the Aeons TornMTG Card: Emrakul, the Aeons Torn for three mana? I'm in.

Elspeth, Knight-ErrantMTG Card: Elspeth, Knight-Errant arguably the best mono white planeswalker out there. Two very good +1 abilities and a crazy -8 ability.

  1. Lightning BoltMTG Card: Lightning Bolt. Maybe not the best in terms of raw power. But it is versatile and cost efficient. I am biased simply because I love burn though.
  2. Gaea's CradleMTG Card: Gaea's Cradle and Tolarian AcademyMTG Card: Tolarian Academy are so good because as lands, we expect them to produce one mana, and maybe two with severe drawbacks. They produce amounts that are usually over two.
  3. FlashMTG Card: Flash just breaks Protean HulkMTG Card: Protean Hulk. That combo is faster than anything known to MTG, sometimes going off turn 0 (opponent's upkeep)
As others have said before, Goyf, FoW, Jace, Dark Confidant, and all of the P9 deserve to be on this list.

I know these aren't the best in the game, but for anyone else who plays crazy artifacts like I do, they will know why I picked:

  1. Sol RingMTG Card: Sol Ring
  2. Mana VaultMTG Card: Mana Vault
  3. Grim MonolithMTG Card: Grim Monolith
So many shenanigans to be had..

Hmm. So hard to pick a "Best" card. Let's see. (avoiding all of the Clearly broken cards. Jace, i'm looking at you.)

  1. Puresteel PaladinMTG Card: Puresteel Paladin Allows you to equip for free as long as you have metalcraft. There is an entire genre of decks built around his mechanic.
  2. Myr WelderMTG Card: Myr Welder Allows you to exile an artifact in any graveyard to "steal" it's activated abilities. I have performed SO many different combos with this card as the Crux.
  3. Candelabra of TawnosMTG Card: Candelabra of Tawnos Instant infinite mana with any Dual-Land. Turn one genesis wave for 40? Yes please.

"4. No Ante cards. E.G Contract from BelowMTG Card: Contract from Below, Jeweled BirdMTG Card: Jeweled Bird."

Trying to avoid ante cards because its illegal in pretty much all formats.

Well, I should read, but tl;dr is so much easier. After that, I will say... 1. Mana DrainMTG Card: Mana Drain, and 2. The Tabernacle at Pendrell ValeMTG Card: The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale.

  2. Time WalkMTG Card: Time Walk WTF pay two mana and take another turn????
  3. Hmm... I dont know what to put... well i really dislike Force of WillMTG Card: Force of Will so ill say that.
So pretty much i hate blue cards.

Dude, Ancestral RecallMTG Card: Ancestral Recall is arguably better than both of those, probably is the best card ever printed.

Since broken stuff like Jace and other format staples have been covered I'd like to nominate:

1) Golgari Grave-Troll. King of dredge, no questions.

2) Dread Return. Again, dredge staple, enables manaless decks.

3) Yawgmoth's Will. Shouldn't need an introduction. Powers out silly combos (twice) all day long.
