Sideboard

Modern BG now has enough to stand alone in competitive play without a third color. The question is why would someone choose to play straight BG over any of the BGx variants? The primary reason is the ability to play the all-powerful Phyrexian Obliterator. A long time favorite in the game of magic for me, Phyrexian Obliterator has the stopping power unlike any other card in the format. Utilize cards like Arena and Deadly Allure to abuse its ability, and you're guaranteed to be tasting the salt from across the table. Like all Rock decks the name of the game is to out-value your opponent by playing a combination of powerful and efficient disruption, removal, and creature spells. Since the printing of Fatal Push, BG is now a stand alone color combo in competitive play which means you'll be playing with a smoother and more resilient mana base as well.
