I would at first glance throw in an Attrition It's an awesome engine with Grave Pact. Also, get you some token generation, with something like Breeding Pit, Awakening zone, or somethig liek that. That way you have creatures always coming out to sac to Kresh. Stuff like Goblin Warrens and maybe even a Krenko would do wonders with that as well.

Thanks Talashar! I like Attrition a lot, but not sure what to take out for it. I'll look into token generators.

Kresh is my favorite general, I would love to offer some suggestions. What's your budget?

The TCGPlayer.com average right now is $121.49 and I'd like to keep it as close to that as possible.

I absolutely wanna keep Sorin Markov and Master of Cruelties in. I think the concept of using them, then Fling ing Kresh into an opponent sounds absolutely awesome.

Goblin Sappers is what I'll use to get Master of Cruelties and/or Kresh past any blockers.

Or just grab a Whispersilk Cloak

Ooh good idea. I've added that and Attrition .

Cards I'd replace:

Hellspark Elemental -replace with Nova Chaser , 10 counters for Kresh instead of 3. Or Force of Savagery for 8.

Gatekeeper of Malakir : never liked him. Replace with either Defiler of Souls or Ashling, the Extinguisher

All of those suggested cards are around $2-$2.50, except force of savagery who's not even a dollar.

Firewing Phoenix -replace with Magma Phoenix because it burns your opponents, although it's 2 more mana to reanimate.

Try Utvara Hellkite for tokens.

If you're looking to reanimate creatures, Artisan of Kozilek can bring back anything when cast, and is a 10/9 with annihilator. Jugan, the Rising Star gives consistent counters when reanimated. Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord can consistently fling creatures at your opponents.

Hope this helps!

thrashtilldeath, thanks a ton for the suggestions. I did the swaps you suggested and found spots for both Utvara Hellkite and Artisan of Kozilek . Appreciate the help!

The Vivid lands would help with spot mana fixing (Vivid Crag , Vivid Grove , Vivid Marsh ) Joiner Adept ? I feel like you could benefit from Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger . Gruul Turf , Golgari Rot Farm , and/or Rakdos Carnarium could be of use as well. I'd love some input on my first edh deck if you could: Hello Sweetie

Thanks DukeNicky! I've put in the vivid lands, Joiner, and Vorinclex. Upvoted your deck as well. Thanks again!

You should avoid running so many ETB-tapped lands. They really slow you down, and most of them aren't worth including. Take, for example, the cycling lands: although they're good in theory, they put you behind when you need the land as a land.

Cards like Ghoultree and Hell's Thunder are bad in EDH. This format is all about utility, flexibility, and versatility. It's better to run a creature with a relevant ability than to play cards that are effectively only good as beaters.

Epochalyptik, the cycle lands were included mostly for the utility... I have enough mana, cycle one to draw a card... but I understand your reasoning, and will look into other suitable replacements or just put basic lands in their stead.

As far as Ghoultree , I completely understand... but Hell's Thunder seems legit to me. Maybe I'm missing something. Cast it, it dies end of turn, feeding Kresh... then I Unearth it, do it again. I'm open to suggestions as far as what to replace them with.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look.

just a note unearth creatures only go to the grave once. if you use unearth it is immediately removed when it would exit so it never touches the grave a 2nd time.

Joshuawesome says... #16

But it counts as dying, right?

Kresh reads: "Whenever another creature dies"

Nevermind, just looked at the Oracle text, and will replace it. :P

Okay, replacing Ghoultree with Worldspine Wurm . I feel the Wurm's abilities to spawn tokens and be shuffled into the library make it a far superior choice. Replacing Hell's Thunder with Shivan Emissary as well.

In addition, I substituted the cycle lands for basics.

Since you play phyrexian and ashnods alter I'd think about playing Sprouting Thrinax and Mitotic Slime which can allow you to make infinite mana and tokens if you also play Nim Deathmantle . You can follow it up with a huge lavalanch or Genesis Wave or Exsanguinate . Nim deathmantle also protects kresh, although a better card for that would be Darksteel Plate . Consider some of the primordials from gatecrash, if you're playing multiplayer. Finally, I'd lose bonesplinters. +1

Why do you play Sundial of the Infinite ?

Rofelos, thanks for the comment. I'll look into adding some of those cards right away.

Epochalyptik, I added it initially for Final Fortune , my plan was to add other cards with an EOT effect to void, but lost track of thought and never got on it. I'm cool with taking them both out, or with adding more cards that can use it.

Flowstone Slide is one of the funniest wrath-like effects for Kresh. His trigger sees their power affected by the slide. So an X=4 slide will turn Serra Angel into an 8/0 and give Kresh 8 +1/+1 counters.

I think that meme picture is actually from the lesson about not screaming, or yelling.
