A grixis deck for Modern play. Please note that I play standard, not modern. Any suggestions are very helpful!
The general idea of this deck:
Control what your opponents can cast by countering, and use cards to exile cards from their deck, choking them.
Problems: Can burn itself out via self damage, many cards hurt yourself. /can/ be slow, but generally isn't.
INSTANTS:
Mana Leak counterspell.
Cryptic Command Value.
Cyclonic Rift bounce any nonland permanent, overload is very useful.
Extirpate Well it was either this or Surgical Extraction I found this better because of Split Second.
Lightning Bolt Three damage at instant speed.
Terminate Yup.
CREATURES:
Shimian Specter this card is something I find amazing. yes, a 4 drop 2/2 with flying isn't great, but that ability is fantastic.
Delver of Secrets is the only real beater in this deck. It's a 1 drop 3/2.
LAND:
Land is almost never a problem. Shocking oneself to death is a problem sometimes, but fetchlands give me lands at the end of their turn, entering tapped and only paying 1 life for it.
SORCERIES:
Blightning I find this card fantastic, burn and discard is great. Downside is sorcery speed.
Damnation Boardwipe is very much useful. Much needed.
Inquisition of Kozilek discard is very good.
Treasure Cruise can be some cheap card draw.
SIDEBOARD:
Deathmark Very much specific, so side only.
Flashfreeze also a specific card, so side only.
Royal Assassin Tap and kill.
Hero's Downfall Mostly only to kill planeswalkers.
Persecute really destroys mono colour decks.
