Silvergill Merchant
Creature - Merfolk
Whenever Silvergill Merchant attacks, defending player may pay . If that player does, you and that player each draw a card.
1/2
Create an artifact creature with a creature type not usually seen in artifact creatures. Elf Replica and Tidehollow Sculler are examples of what I'm looking for.

That's a uh.. interesting deck name. You might like these: Elderfang Venom, Skemfar Avenger, Elves of Deep Shadow, Elvish Lyrist, Elvish Scrapper, Viridian Zealot, Elf Replica, Heart Warden, Ruthless Winnower, Yavimaya Granger, Bloodline Shaman, Pact of the Serpent, Elvish Guidance, Species Specialist, Elvish Promenade, Elven Ambush

You could probably chuck Elf Replica in favor of Sylvok Replica. That one power isn't worth the extra cost and reduced flexibility.

Thanks for the input on the deck! I like having Primeval Protector in the deck because it's a 10/10 for usually less than 11 mana. On its own, it enables me to cast Ghalta for 2 mana, and my opponents almost always have creatures to reduce its cost. I'll still consider Hooded Hydra though, although I think I've got enough recursion that a boardwipe isn't crippling.
You're right that I should have some more removal. Titania's Song and Semblance Anvil haven't impressed me so far, so I'll swap them out for Elf Replica and Beast Within (both of which have some utility if my opponents aren't running many enchantments.) I'll see if I can work a couple more removal pieces into the deck, though.

Nice list! Just off a quick glance I'd recommend swapping out Primeval Protector for Hooded Hydra. You can't always rely on opponents having creatures, and the Hydra replaces itself in the event of a boardwipe. I'd also highly recommend adding a bit more removal to deal with problem artifacts and enchantments. Beast Within, Krosan Grip, Tranquil Grove, Back to Nature, even Elf Replica to keep with the artifact theme, all are good options.
Love seeing decks that don't follow the norm!

MCY998 - Thanks for the feedback! In retrospect, I was probably overly paranoid about the threat of flyers. I already have some artifact/enchantment hate (Reclamation Sage, Nullmage Shepherd, Root Out, Natural State, Naturalize, Elf Replica in the sideboard), but what other options, as well as options for straight removal, would you recommend?
