First couple of games —Oct. 24, 2019

Alright, I gotta admit that I didn't expect this deck to perform as well as it did. The different angle of attack approach via combat or indirect damage really does add up quick. I've won 4/5 games so far. Key takeaways:

  • Cordial Vampire is nuts in this deck and has won me my 2nd game by chaining Skullclamp into more vampires while pumping the team.
  • Reconnaissance has been awesome every time I draw it.
  • Scapegoat is one of the best card in this deck imho. The utility is insane. Bounce vamps to recast or saves vamps from boardwipes/removals.
  • Captivating Vampire is insane in this build and won me my first game when no one had an answer for him. He's great in this low curve build because of the insane amount of vampire tokens I can generate with all the one-drops (by turn 6 I am already able to steal 3 creatures). In a higher curved vampire build, he is less powerful.
  • Impact Tremors/Purphoros, God of the Forge are great at dealing out insane amount of damage. It helped me get through the last 18 points of damage when my opponents have a bunch of creatures to brickwall my combat step.
  • Coat of Arms is a dumb magic card. I am able to kill the entire table by turn 7 with this.
  • Always tutor for card draw. Always.

Cards for consideration:

  • Mirror Entity: Great late game finisher but sucks to draw early game so I'd need to test it out to see how it goes.
  • Metallic Mimic: Only great once I start the ball rolling on the vampire train. Further testing needed.

Might I suggest Mirror Entity ?

+1 for both flair and brutal efficiency.

YamishiTheWickedOne That's a great suggestion, I'll need to find space to test it out. Thanks!

Other things off the top of my head...

Equipment tutors, because this strategy lives and dies by skullclamp. Stoneforge Mystic , Enlightened Tutor and Open the Armory and Steelshaper's Gift come to mind.

Various lords. Take your pick. Vamps have a ton. I wanna mention Sanctum Seeker for the life drain and there was some Orc or something who had a similar effect.

Nameless Inversion . it's a creature hate spell that counts as "casting a vampire".

Obelisk of Urd . easy buff, use once you're done with clamp.

Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle . This deck is hyper aggressive and swarms the board with attackers like nothing else in EDH. He gives you more free creatures.

Bloodcrazed Paladin as an out against boardwipes.

Yahenni. He's actually good in this format just as a hard to kill beater.

I'm sure I can come up with more ideas. I like the deck a lot.

YamishiTheWickedOne Great suggestions...I like Obelisk of Urd a ton since it will be almost always free when I cast it. I'll definitely consider them and test them out!

Other lords: Vampire Nocturnus , Bloodline Keeper  Flip, maybe Rakish Heir . I really wanna give special mention to Malakir Bloodwitch as a way to surprise kill people/finish games or just mass heal. There was also Champion of Dusk .

YamishiTheWickedOne: I have a lot of great cards to consider from your suggestions and all of them seems great. I'll have to test them and see how it goes. Thanks!

Sweet deck! About the infinite drain combo..I'm not sure if I get how you pull it off. I know it works with Bontu's Monument because of the cost reduction, letting you cast Oathsworn Vampire for the 1 mana you make off sac'ing it to Phyrexian Altar . Without a cost reducer, how does your combo go off? Aside from that, I got a lot of use out of Massive Raid along with the aforementioned Battle Hymn .

imSandstorm: The combo starts by having an additional vampire in play or if you have both Oathsworn Vampire and Blood Artist in hand to cast to generate the extra body to sac. How the combo works is this:

  1. Sacrifice any vampire and Oathsworn Vampire to Phyrexian Altar for ( Blood Artist 's drain will trigger)

  2. Cast Oathsworn Vampire from your graveyard (you can cast him now that you've gained life to enable it)

  3. Edgar Markov’s ability triggers creating a vampire token

Repeat steps 1 to 3 infinite times.

D'oh! Forgot the eminence ability doesn't care where you cast it from. Sorry about that! Thanks for the explanation.

I’ve had a ton of luck with Impact Tremors and Purphoros in my Edgar Deck, especially if you repeat cast. With Purphoros out, each vampire cast will net you 4 damage to each opponent.

MannyBothans: Purphoros, God of the Forge is spicy. Would have to test it out for sure!
