Wedding Ring

Artifact

When Wedding Ring the battlefield, if it was cast, target opponent creates a token that’s a copy of it.

Whenever an opponent who controls an artifact named Wedding Ring draws a card during their turn, you draw a card.

Whenever an opponent who controls an artifact named Wedding Ring gains life during their turn, you gain that much life.

Curat, Beguiling Host

Legendary Creature - Cat Demon

Whenever ~ enters the battlefield, choose target opponent.

Whenever the chosen player loses or gains life, instead you lose or gain that amount of life instead. Whenever you lose or gain life, the chosen player loses or gains that amount of life instead.

Sacrifice ~: Until the end of the turn, double the amount of life gained or lost this turn. If this would put a player's life total to less than 1, their life total becomes one instead.

"Life and Death; locked in step, all beings obey the waltz between."

3/4

An interesting take on effects like Wedding Ring, where two players share a life total, so to speak, and either one wins, or one loses. You could do an aristocrats strategy, or simply a life-gain stratagy. Pump an opponent's life total to a staggering height, and then through effects such as Axis of Mortality, you either use them to your advantage, or they use you. Either way, looks interesting at the least!

Spoiler Schedule

Insatiable Avarice: In mono-B, this is draw three for three, which is a pretty good rate. K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth gets Demonic Tutor + draw two for

Fortune, Loyal Steed: From reading the story, I thought he looked like the "horse" from Elden Ring so this art was pretty startling

The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride: I kinda wish he got some serious flavor again. The original premise of "edgy hypno toad" was what made him funny, but now it just feels like WotC is milking that fan reaction for all it's worth.

Great Train Heist: solid Relentless Assault variant, but I kinda wish the last one said "each" for EDH purposes, even if I know it targets for the sake of crime:ing

Gisa, the Hellraiser: WotC throwing legendofa a bone, I guess.

Olivia, Opulent Outlaw: Why would becoming a criminal make Oliva gain white of all colors? I assume this is in preparation for Assassin's Creed, but it's still pretty weird. (For reference: White outlaws within Mardu's color identity)

Final Showdown: The best spree card? In voltron decks this is basically an instant-speed Plague Wind for seven mana that doubles as a situational savingspell. I think the first mode has a lot of situational uses, but it's something you have to keep your eyes out for.

High Noon: Rule of Law upgrade for Boros+, although Deafening Silence is still a thing

Arid Archway: idk if colorless decks needed a second Guildless Commons, but sure. Would rather have a mono-colored cycle tbh.

Tomb Trawler: I'm surprised how slowly Grenzo, Dungeon Warden is accumulating these kind of cards; Cogwork Archivist missed the mark in more ways than one

Roxanne, Starfall Savant: was kinda confused about the second ability until I realized she triggers on both ETB and attack. Powerstones obviously work too, plus e.g. Svella, Ice Shaper. Edit: Oh and Treasures too, obviously

Stubborn Burrowfiend: Ahhh! What the hell is the flavor supposed to be with that art?!

Kambal, Profiteering Mayor: Pretty cool with e.g. Saw in Half, Wedding Ring, and Tombstone Stairwell

Geralf, the Fleshwright: still not a good mono-U zombie commander but seems real good in the 99

Lilah, Undefeated Slickshot: so basically a multicolor Taigam, Ojutai Master/Ojer Pakpatiq, Deepest Epoch  Flip? Not bad.

Caustic Bronco: Could have been Dark Confidant on steroids, but mediocre thoughness and no evasion keeps its attack trigger from being reliable

Calamity, Galloping Inferno: somehow just a normal horse, not Elemental or anything.

Eriette, the Beguiler: gogo Enchant permanent! Also, every Licid is now a Dominating Licid

Obeka, Splitter of Seconds: suck it, The Ninth Doctor!

Hey all.

I made some updates. Now I'm not 100% on all the cards I added because I added a few.

Firstly, I added The One Ring, Rings of Brighthearth, Wedding Ring

I think the rings theme is a pretty funny meme, but the one ring puts in work, almost as much as Zedruu alone.

I put in fierce guardianship over force of will

Wedding Ring only triggers when an opponent draws a card or gains life on their own turn.

Let's say there are three players, each of whom controls a Wedding Ring (token or not, doesn't matter). You take your draw step and draw a card. Your opponents each draw a card. Since it isn't their turn, there are no further triggers.

Same thing in team play. Let's say you're playing Two-Headed Giant on a double date, and everyone has a Wedding Ring. How romantic. Anyway, you and your partner draw on your draw step. In this case, two opponents have drawn cards on their turn, so your opponents's Wedding Rings each trigger twice. They draw two cards each, and since it's not their turn, there are no further triggers.

So let's say you have Panharmonicon or a way for someone to make a duplicate token of Wedding Ring, does any instance of draw or life gain make it go infinite?

Example, I have Panharmonicon and an additional token is made targeting a different opponent. Typically when you draw its one and done for this. However would the additional Ring track an additional trigger that repeats the process? I.E - Opponent one draws per draw step On the stack opponent 2 and myself get a draw trigger Opponent two resolved Wedding Ring trigger, thus creating a trigger for opponent one and myself to draw. I draw in resolution of the original draw step trigger, and Opponent one and two get a Wedding Ring trigger.

Then repeat infinity....

Is that correct? Then how would Doubling Season work if my opponent had that and made a second Ring?

Have you ever thought about Witch's Clinic or Devoted Caretaker? Not quite sure what constitutes an '8', but Crackdown is pretty neat in mono-White, few people run big White creatures, it's probably a better defense than Ghostly Prison or Norn's Annex, but it might paint a target on your back. I think at a power level of 8 you can run something like Drannith Magistrate, that might be worth a look.

Wipes are very important as your power level goes up, people's decks get 'out of hand' both quicker and to a greater extreme, even 'fair' decks might have a much scarier board than you. Even in cEDH I hear about people using wipes these days, Promise of Loyalty is one I like, this will clear out even wide boards and force people to go after each other. The Eternal Wanderer is also interesting, but she is 6 mana for a pretty fun wipe in Voltron decks. There is also Single Combat, I suppose if you keep your Commander who cares if you can't summon any new creatures?

If your power level is reasonably high you can almost count on someone drawing quite a few more cards than you, maybe Wedding Ring would be worth it?

Given your CMDR isn't human and will likely grow large Return of the Wildspeaker comes to mind. With your life gain I'm a little surprised to not see Sylvan Library or Aetherflux Reservoir.

Other card draw suggestions, Wedding Ring, Dawn of Hope and Archivist of Oghma.

I would consider replacing Zendikar Resurgent with Doubling Cube.
