Thundering Raiju

Creature — Spirit

Haste

Whenever this attacks, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature you control. Then this deals X damage to each opponent, where X is the number of modified creatures you control other than this. (A creature is modified if it has equipment or aura attached to it, or has counters on it.)

Thundering Raiju gives an effect similar to your commander's, but it hits all opponents.

Last Laugh - First off, thank you for the suggestions!

Secondly, Uncivil Unrest is definitly solid. For no other reason than the damage doubler. Most of my creatures already enter the battlefield with counters, but double damage only for me is cool.

Thundering Raiju I'll skip for now. While the counters on it do help with Marchesa, I don't think I need it in the deck as this is more combo than aggro. He requires an attack and at a 3/3 (probably 4/4) in EDH he is kind of small to keep the counters going.

Danny Pink will definitly be playtested. I haven't looked at the Dr. Who cards that closely but maybe I should.

Thank you!

Uncivil Unrest is one of the best cards printed for Marchesa in awhile.

Thundering Raiju works great in Marchesa in general but it seems even better with modular and everything entering with their own counters.

Last but definitely not least is Danny Pink. Like Raiju, he's really good in Marchesa in general but is absolutely gross and 100% an auto-include with modular.

Thundering Raiju deserves a spot.

Those are all interesting options! I really like Thundering Raiju but I don’t really want to be increasing the deck’s average CMC if I can help it. I’m also not too sure how I feel about Reckless Handling just cause I don’t wanna risk accidentally dumping Sundial of the Infinite if I need it to prevent myself from losing the game from a Chance for Glory. But I’ll do some playtesting with all of those cards and see how I like them.

Thanks for the suggestions Imaginary_Friend777!

I like Reckless Handling for artifact tutor myself, another more direct but hard-to-cast option is Whir of Invention. Personally, it seems like maybe a Sharding Sphinx or even a Thundering Raiju could be more explosive on those extra combats (I use both a lot in a Brudiclad edh deck, so a bit different but similar). This is a neat list!

To each their own. I don't think the Cathar's Crusade comparison is a fair one though. Cathar's needs the correct resources in hand or token production in play (2-4 of them just to match this once) whereas this just needs any creature in play. A couple +1+1 counter effects (especially go-wide ones) makes Thundering Raiju a viable group slug option here also.
