Harmonic Prodigy

Creature — Human Wizard

Prowess (Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, this creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)

If an ability of a Shaman or another Wizard you control triggers, that ability triggers an additional time.

I suggest cutting creatures in favor of more noncreatures. Because I'm a bad person I'm still going to bring up Harmonic Prodigy, works with more than just Vivi.

The Ozolith lets you keep counters whenever Vivi dies

Maybe some cost-efficient Equipment for extra power? e.g. Tenza, Godo's Maul

In tonight's friendly game (1v1v1), this deck won 1 of 2 matches against Swarmyard Rats and Red/White Stuffy Doll and 1 of 1 matches against Swarmyard Rats and Tasha's Hideous Laughter *list*. In the first match, the deck was able to use the Harmonic Prodigy + Burning-Tree Emissary trick to ramp to 4 mana on T2 to cast Chandra, Dressed to Kill. On the next turn, I used Chandra's second ability and manaaged to get a Fanatic of Mogis which I was able to cast with a second Burning-Tree Emissary to deal 18 damage to each opponent, leaving them both at 2. I then swung for lethal against the Stuffy Doll deck. The remaining player didn't do anything much and passed. I was able to swing for lethal against him as well, though I also had a Lightning Bolt that would have sealed the deal. T4 win.

The next game I was ganged up on and the Stuffy Doll deck really targeted me. They couldn't change that target tho, so they were eventually overwhelmed. That player having lost twice was allowed to change decks, as per our group's rules. They changed to their Tasha deck.

In game three, everyone hates Tasha and ganged up on that player. Their deck fizzled after removing over half of their opponent's libraries. Then it was was just a slow grind until eventually I drew and played a Fanatic of Mogis for way more damage than I needed for the win. The rats would have had the win if they had one more turn.

Then a tornado warning went off and everyone went offline. Fun night!

Hi NV_1980,

thanks for the feedback. Yes, you are correct, I built the deck with solely those win conditions in mind - getting them somewhat low with Impact Tremorsfoil, Terror of the Peaks, Anathemancer and so on, and then finish them with Exsanguinate or Torment of Hailfire. I'd like to Note, that these spells are not strictly one-use, since i can get them back with Archaeomancer and Kess, Dissident Mage / copy them using Dualcaster Mage (perhaps in combination with Harmonic Prodigy and Naban, Dean of Iteration.

I've actually had Marchesa, the Black Rose (and Havengul Lich ) in a previous version of the Deck, but removed her, since i didn't actually want to build the deck around attacking, but using her effect to actively re-trigger ETBs is something I've not thought of. I've only used her as a means of "protecting" my creatures, not "sac" them for additional triggers. I'll add her back into the Deck, this idea synergises well with the theme of the Deck. Havengul Lich might also be worth re-adding.

As for "more powerful spells": I've thought about adding some more, but not necessarily token creations. More like in the Spirit of ToH and EX (preferably with CMC 2 or less so i can tutor them as well with Spellseeker)

I feel ya. With my brew, after playtesting it a bit, I think I need something better than Light Up the Stage to get Fanatic of Mogis into my hand more consistently. too many times it took more than 10 turns for a copy to show up, and that's just not consistent enough for a deck that's rather aimless without it. I'm about to start looking for other red Shaman/Wizard spells that might be good enough to be worth casting on their own, but also get really good with Harmonic Prodigy. I guess we'll see if I find anything.

Thank you for the suggestions Craeter. My friends and I were talking recently about doing a themed group build. I suggested Mono-Red, since one of my friends recently proxied up an Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos deck, which is fun to play against.

I dig your suggestions. I had Vexing Devil in one of the earlier versions of the deck, but swapped it for Harmonic Prodigy, or something else in the 2cmc range.

I was planning on picking this deck up as mostly proxied out. I pumped the breaks for Aetherdrift spoilers to see if there's anything else I'd want to include in this print order.

Before I make any proper recommendations, you should stop worrying so much about the average CMC. Yes, having a lower curve is better (usually), but you take note of every little change, and that's not gonna help you build a better deck.

Onto the recommendations themselves:

Harmonic Prodigy this card continues to put in work. Nice synergy with Atla.

Blades of Velis Vel egg tricks.

Utopia Sprawl another Wild Growth.

Far Wanderings cut one of your sorcery speed ramp spells.

Determined Iteration, Growing Ranks and/or Nesting Dovehawk those eggs aren't gonna populate themselves.
