Aether Revolt Pre-Release MVC (Most Valuable Card)

In all the events that you attended this weekend; what was the one card that was critical in getting you the win or the top 8 finish; rarity doesn't matter in this case.

For me, it was Unbridled Growth. The mana fixing for my 3 color deck was so critical; especially on T1, and when I lost it before I got my 3rd color down; I was in a world of hurt.

Aethersphere Harvester won 3 games for me in the prerelease. Best play was to animate it, play Hunt the Weak on it, fighting with a Consulate Skygate, gaining 4 and then attacking for 4 more lifelink.

I'm with Boza. Aethersphere Harvester was MVP for sure (though we paired it with Nature's Way). Brought me and my partner back from the very brink of defeat in 2HG match 3, which allowed us to move on to a 4-0-1 record and 25 prize packs. Harvester is Bae.

Saheeli's Artistry. Because nothing quite ruins your perfect turn 6 Noxious Gearhulk like me making two of them. Didn't lose a game where I played it, which is saying something because my deck was dreadful.

I went 3-1 at the pre-release playing U/B.

I won every game I hit Yahenni, Undying Partisan but that makes sense.

I was most surprised by Aether Swooper. Such amazing early presence and when combined with Fabrication Module the card did work.

Also Untethered Express could have been rare. I only got to use it once but it got out of hand quick.

And it may be from last set but Long-Finned Skywhale just wins games.

Untethered Express is scary as hell in limited. Saw one across from me and I had no answer for it save for the fact I had my opponent on the ropes and on full defense; so he couldn't afford to swing with it (my heart skipped a beat in that game when I saw it because it was game 3 of the last round, with a Top 8 finish on the line)

From the look of the rising prices, people are finding out that the Herald of Anguish is the real deal. I also think that in my prerelease, that Greenbelt Rampager (I opened two) was key. But, yeah, I think the demon is going to be a good card, and we may see more play out of Marionette Master too.

Either Chandra, Torch of Defiance or Herald of Anguish. Went undefeated in all 4 of the pre releases I attended. The Herald is a monster.

It's gotta be Quicksmith Spy for me. The U/R deck that it was in was the only time I 4-0'd during the six events I played in, and it was mostly due to this. Drawing a card every turn for basically free is completely insane, especially since the "drawback" is so easily circumvented by targeting an Equipment with the ability, or targeting a late game Renegade Map. This does need at least a few artifacts in order to be good, but those shouldn't be too hard to pick in draft.

Aside from that... Hm. In the last deck I played, I was a really big fan of Quicksmith Rebel, which is just as good as the Spy if not even better. Exquisite Archangel has a very powerful effect, and is definitely worth first picking. Some cards really impressed me (

Also I didn't get to play it but everyone was pretty excited when I pulled (what was apparently) the only Ragavan Token. Everyone loves a legendary Monkey!

Aethertide Whale with Multiform Wonder was my MVP. 10-point life swing with evasion each turn, bounce whale, get more energy, etc.

Also Mechanized Production + Pacification Array was amazing.

Aethergeode Miner was great at not dying, making energy, and turning on Revolt.

I was on the receiving end of Aethersphere Harvester and it was just a difficult card to deal with. The round I lost involved it being tutored up with Trophy Mage which I then had trouble dealing with.

In my deck, Sram's Expertise was great. It was my promo and I pulled a second copy in my pool, and there was hardly a scenario that I didn't want to cast it. Chaining it into a free-cast removal spell or just another body was strong. Plus it fed the gremlin/atog quite well.

Oh, and I have to admit, the one pre-release I did go to was a bust, save for the promo and second Greenbelt Rampager I got...however first round I played the guy that opened a fricken Masterwork Ensnaring Bridge, and my deck was U/G Control/+1/+1 counters...which was good, save for the fact that his damn bridge shut me down...completely. It was...horrible. Just drained my will to live...well, not really. But yeah, you get my point.

DrLitebur I had to face to a Meekstone so i feel your pain. It wasn't as bad for me because I had some smaller stuff but it was still super annoying to play around.

Mine was Pia Nalaar. I played R/U fliers and Mama Thopthop made me feel like I was playing Breya.

For individual sealed, Hungry Flames did an excellent impression of Searing Blaze, and I had two in my pool. Great removal, especially for aggressive decks. For two headed giant, Embraal Gear-Smasher won some games. Four damage a turn is no joke.
