I didn't like the way the story was written; felt rushed and confusing.

Also, don't like that they're making her blue. I want her to go back to mono-. SHE MUST STAY PURE!

Censuring, you forget; new Gideon's emblem works with all Gideons; so the idea here is to drop new Gids, then try to get AoZ Gids down ASAP and protect him.

What about lands? Is 27 lands too much for a control deck?

In today's story (my opinion on it will come later), We find Nissa looking for clues into Bolas' suspected corruption of the plane. To do that she seeks the God of Knowledge Kefnet; and takes one step towards her foretold color shift

Censuring Do you believe that Lili has a place in this deck?

And which Gids would you sub out for Sorin or Ob.

Maybe put Kalitas in the sideboard if I run into an embalm matchup

This is what I came up with. Now it's a work in progress and will likely go through many revisions; but I want to throw this out there and have some expert deck builders critique it. Anything is game here

I've been struggling to determine which way to go with my deck; sticking with the control theme

Do I stick with Orzhov, shift to Dimir, or go wide with Esper.

I know Esper seems to be a good fit; but I could use some help trying to zero in on which way to go

Second pre-release for me went awesome. Finished 4-0-1 (last round was a mutual draw) and split 22 packs between the two of us evenly.

Went with a cycling counter deck consisting of Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, Archfiend of Ifnir and Nest of Scarabs. Man when the deck got going it was very hard to stop. My opponent in the 2nd round game 2 got starved out of mana, and by the time he started to build his board state I was already ahead. Being able to weaken my opponent's creatures and at the same time build my board state made it a tough go for my opponent. My prize packs was not that exciting.

But I am happy with what I scored

Good lord Argeaux, do you happen to have the horseshoe up your ass?

April 23, 2017 10:06 a.m.

Went 2-3 in my pre-release. Two games of being mana screwed and taking on a deck that composed of mostly flyers made it a tough run

My promo was Hazoret the Fervent, and I managed to score an Oketra the True invocation which made it all worth it

clayperce I know how the mechanic works; just wanted to see how used it was in limited.

less than 4 hours for me to go :D

Argeaux How does embalm work in limited?

I've got my first pre-release in the morning

Lili made the mistake of not trusting the gatewatch to help her whack Razaketh; especially when his influence is part of Bolas' power-play here.

Also, likely going to see Razaketh in the next set. Any takers on what his power is going to be like? Is he going to have an outrageous cost to cast like Griselbrand?

Iffy I enjoy playing control; so I want to leave it as a control deck.

Dusk to Dawn really interests me, and I can combo it off with Kalitis, weaken him with Lili; drop dusk; blow my opponent's creatures away and get a ton of zombies.

Going Esper is a curious but attractive idea. I do have a single Torrental, and I can likely get more easily.

This is the deck I used for last Standard, and it did fairly well. Now that Amonkhet is around the corner I am at a loss of how to enhance this deck with the newer cards.

I am also thinking about either making this zombie or control, or keep it control.

What do you guys think?

April 17, 2017 10:56 p.m.

I think if you have the Gideon of the Trial emblem it will not cause you to lose the game, you will just get a free turn

April 13, 2017 1:45 p.m.

Would you be able to play that card before your opponent untaps their lands?

April 13, 2017 1:41 p.m.

Argeaux Not to mention all the yummy yummy zombies that Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet can eat to get massive

April 13, 2017 11:48 a.m.

Hell yeah that is a solid card for 5c decks

Is this the Standard that we see a 5c deck?

April 13, 2017 10:27 a.m.

God harvest season is awesome.

Tap out your creatures; 2nd main drop that card; pull all the missing land you need and BOOM, you're in full control
