This Deck brings out Sphinx's Tutelage to its full potential in Standard. It is what Makes this deck tick, and it powers all three of this decks major combos. Altar's Reap + Salvage Drone + Sphinx's Tutelage Salvage drone is already pretty good, a 1/1 ingest on turn one. It's ability is what makes it special though. When it dies, you may draw a card, and If you do, discard a card. We are Not worried about discarding cards, especially with this combo. Cast Sphinx's Tutelage, followed the next turn by Altar's Reap. Sacrifice Salvage drone to Draw Three Cards, Making your opponent mill at least the top 6 cards of their deck, while you gain card advantage. Absolutely Beautiful. Mortuary Mire Can either get you back that Salvage Drone or that creature card you discarded. Bonus synergy.

Grave Birthing + Sphinx's Tutelage Grave Birthing Exiles a card from your opponents graveyard, which can Counter Delve Put down a 1/1 Scion for blockers and Mana Ramp and draws you a card, which also mills your opponent for at least 2. Grave Birthing is a beautiful card in this deck.

Sire of Stagnation + Sphinx's Tutelage Sire of Stagnation is a beautiful card on its own. In combination with Sphinx's Tutelage (Assuming you don't already have more than one by the time you get to Sire), your opponent will mill at least Six Cards whenever they play a land, the first two of which are Exiled. What more could you want in a Mill deck?

Most Mill decks I've played have had puny and weak creatures, but not this one. This deck has the King of mill itself, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. It also runs Void Winnower to slow an opponents aggro if necessary, and Conduit of Ruin + Kozilek's Channeler + Shrine of the Forsaken Gods Mana ramp like nobodies business.

We have our ingest creatures to ingest in case of the odd chance we can't get Sphinx's Tutelage out early.

Updates Add

We dropped 2 Islands, 1 Swamp, a Grave Birthing, Mortuary Mire and an Altar's Reap, and completely cut Kozeliek's Channeler. This freed up 8 slots in our deck, allowing us to add in the following:

3 Tomb of the Spirit Dragon

  • Given all 24 of our potential creatures are colorless, this land is our life gain for the deck, and I say it is efficient. Have extra mana? Have an untapped Hedron Archive? This is the land for you.

2 Ugin's Insight

2 Languish

  • Finally! A staple in most control decks in this format, i now own 2 copies of Languish, which I believe makes this deck more competitive than it was.

1 Sanctum of Ugin

1 Ob Nixilis Reignited

  • Now we are talking! Obby here lets me draw twice in one turn, which is op in a Tutelage strategy. His second ability deals with baby Jace, and his final ability is overkill to our opponent (especially in combination with Sire of Stagnation) He also Increases our Mythic count to 7, too. I don't think I've ever had that many Mythics in one deck before.

Any Suggestions? I'm trying to be prepared for when Tarkir rotates, the only reason we have Tomb of the Spirit Dragon is because we need the life gain.
