Bit different take on Storm.

So, this is my own brew after playing more generic Storm deck: Storm a Day keeps Grixis Shadow away. I felt like in my local meta where everyone plays tons of gravehate and every other player is on Tron i could never succeed with traditional Gifts Storm so i decided to change deck. After brewing for couple months i had 2 options for my new deck, either this list or 4C Saheeli Evolution and i have been working with this Saheeli list for over half of year, but still what you could expect from Storm player. i have now ordered cards for this deck and playtesting is in process.

And because this deck is actually surprisingly complicated and i love writing primers with my shitty english, i made more accurate guide how to pilot this deck:

Well if your local meta isn't full of humans, Tron and gravehate you probably don't at all. If your LGS has just million combo and Hollow One players Gifts Storm is very good choice.

But in case of mine for example, everyone plays a lot of hate cards for storm, Grafdigger's Cage, Runed Halo, Rest in Peace and whatever you have.

And of course this kind of rogue deck has the feeling that you are not just meta slave among everyone else, you are doing something probably unique that many players have not faced earlier. (Sure there was Ascension Storm before Baral, Chief of Compliance was printed but that deck was probably whole different than this list.I myself didn't play Modern back then so i don't really know about that.

Well, it actually depends what opponent has. This deck recovers very well from cracked Relic of Progenitus, but still dies to Rest in Peace just as hard as Gifts Storm does.

But where Gifts Storm can cast few rituals and make some goblins with Empty the Warrens to play around gravehate, this deck can do exactly same, but with Ignite Memories it can be even more brutal and win instantly. OR it can reveal some lands and Path to Exiles and suddenly you are dead.

But advantage of this deck is in my opinion that this is even more explosive than Gifts Storm. When going off Pyromancer Ascension produces massive amount of mana so fizzling is very rare once you go off. Downside being that, when opponent has the gravehate this deck just dies instantly usually WITH MAIN DECK. But in game 2 you almost never are on Storm plan.

Another advantage that this deck has is that Gifts Storm needs to have creature to win early, Baral, Chief of Compliance and Goblin Electromancer are very easy to remove where Pyromancer Ascension is very hard to remove and many decks can't do that at all with main deck. So going off is very easy in early turns if the hand is good.

Sure overall this variant is bit less consistent i think but this is much more fun to play and sideboard just makes it all more interesting. But if you just want to be meta slave among everyone else Gifts Storm is probably better option for you, its easier deck to learn and just more consistent as i said.

Lets start at the very beginning so, Mulligans.

Sometimes it can be seriously hard to say what hand is good and what isn't. Easy way to look it is that you want few cantrips, then the hand is almost always keep. Few lands, ritual or two and some cantrips is what starting hand usually looks like. You don't want Storm cards in your opener because they are just dead cards and you dig for them anyway while going off. But you can always discard them to Faithless Looting, same with Past in Flames. Pyromancer Ascension is always nice to have but its not worth to mull just for it.

You will learn mulling just by playing the deck, so if you are interested, do that!

After you have found playable hand you just start cashing in your cantrips. If you don't have Pyromancer Ascension in hand don't start with Thought Scour because you don't want to mill your Ascensions.

Usually just slamming Pyromancer Ascension fast as possible is good idea, but sometimes it's worth to cast more cantrips in turn 2 and just drop it on turn 3.

If you have Manamorphose just play it as cantrip if you are searching for Pyromancer Ascension.

Always make sure that if you draw multiple of same card cast only one of them because all the rest makes counters for Pyromancer Ascension. But of course with cantrips you have to just cast them in order to find Pyromancer Ascension at all.

And in scrying, looting or what ever you are doing always prioritize cards that you already have in hand so stacking Pyromancer Ascension gets much easier.

Search for Azcanta   Feels like dead card sometimes so if you already have Ascension and other stuff going try to discard it or scry it away as it doesn't really play any role on storming itself.

After you wrecked your opponent with million Grapes, opponents starts to dig the play sets of Rest in Peaces and Leyline of Sanctitys from their sideboard.

In game 2 opponent starts with Leyline of Sanctity in play and plays turn 2 Rest in Peace and just waits you to scoop game on that, but you just smile and go Ritual+Madcap Experimentand suddenly your opponent is one that scoops the game and oops you just won your match!

So basically, pretty much every time in game 2 you just switch to Platinum Emperion+Madcap Experiment plan and hope that opponent sided out all of his/her removal. But sometimes opponent left some removal in, maybe expecting Baral, Chief of Compliance or Goblin Electromancer from us. And Platinum Emperion just dies to Path or something. That's why i usually leave Ignite Memories or Empty the Warrens in as backup wincon.

And in game 3 things get interesting, you just shuffle your whole sideboard into deck and take decide that on which plan you want to be on in game 3 and leave those cards in. Your opponent can't know what you are doing so he/she can have proper answers only to other you our plans. Its up to us to decide what to play. And that always depends on situation.

And then of course for unfair/greedy mana decks we have Blood Moon what a surprise

Shattering Spree for any artifact based strategy like ,Affinity ,Lantern Control ,Tezzerator and so on.

Lightning Bolt for any deck that has small creatures yeah you know that right Also bring it in against Death's Shadow decks, because sometimes fully stacked Pyromancer Ascension + few Lightning Bolts can do a lot of damage on just finish off the opponent.

Then you might think, why don't you just jam this sideboard into Gifts Storm? Well why not, you sure can do that. But i feel like with this build i win more game 1:s and then i can switch to Platinum Emperion plan in game 2 and get basically free win. So over all this deck has bit higher change on winning when opponent doesn't have hate for us. And this is unknown build so people don't know what to name with their Meddling Mages so 99% of the time they name Grapeshot and we just don't care because we have Ignite Memories and Empty the Warrens in maindeck.

PRIMER STILL IN PROGRESS

And before you ask anything make sure you read the primer!

There are probably million grammar mistakes in there i know
