Two More Cards Added, and First Loss :( —March 15, 2013

So I lost for the first time. My friend playing Kaalia of the Fast decided to kill me starting on turn 5 (when kaalia could start attacking) and didn't stop till I was dead (turn 7, just before I could play Borbby).

After my crushing defeat I traded for a Knollspine Dragon and a Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle.

man, Borby enchanted with Snake Umbra is potentially an automatic game ender if you get lucky with the draws. +1

or if i have more than one land in hand, and chances are that i'll be hitting lands almost every time

I second Kessig Wolf Run since you should be making all your land drops.

Dragon Mage, Reforge the Soul, Infiltration Lens, a way to give him double-strike for more draw power

As a side note, it's too bad Treasure Hunt can't be in this deck.

Now THAT is what I call a budget deck.

The only reason Life from the Loam was included is because I already had one...

Scouting Trek to set up the kill with all your damage = draw

meh, chances are that I'll be drawing lands or things that find lands since there are 85 lands to look for and only 4 things that won't get me more when I play them

I like the valakut, cruicble on the other hand costs about as much as the rest of the deck combined

well i was thinking you could sac the lands with borborygmos, and then play them to trigger valakut so that you get 6 damage per land rather than just 3. i would also want to maybe add in more draw artifacts. things like Horn of Greed, Font of Mythos, Howling Mine, Otherworld Atlas, and Temple Bell to draw more lands to discard, and to go through your deck quickly to find snake umbra.

but you are right, Crucible of Worlds is not the cheapest card in the world. it would speed up the deck quite a bit, but just having valakut would be a nice alternate win con in case people are just hating on good old borby. i would for sure think about those draw artifacts, though.

this deck just wouldn't work if it wasn't so weak. People always leave it for last since it can't really do much. I can't go making it too good...

I would suggest lost in the woods and if there is room for more forests add those in as we'll. also since borborgymos is your main win condition, you should have some protection for him like lightning greaves or Swiftfoot boots

meh. you kill him and I throw my hand at you is usually good protection

I LOVE IT!!! Some suggestions:

Crop Rotation, Harrow, Expedition Map for tutors and to be able to get land into your graveyard for Life from the Loam and Creeping Renaissance. Vesuva and Thespian's Stage to screw over Legendary Lands. Ghost Quarter, Tectonic Edge for some spot removal of other problem lands.

Also some Manlands wouldn't hurt, IMO, like Dryad Arbor, Raging Ravine, Ghitu Encampment, Mishra's Factory, Inkmoth Nexus, Blinkmoth Nexus, Dread Statuary, Kher Keep,Gargoyle Castle, Hellion Crucible, and Treetop Village. Maybe even Kessig Wolf Run for fun!

wolf run would be fun, but I don't have one yet. And some manlands/destroyerlands wouldn't be bad either.

Many are relatively inexpensive. Manlands survive the many board wipes in EDH. As do Selesnya Keyrune and Gruul Keyrune.

keyrunes are a no, they have too little benefit in a deck like this
