Reprobation Discussion

I've really enjoyed Dovin, Grand Arbiter in my Azorious weenie fliers deck. I've also found Always Watching to be very strong and worth the space and mana. Pride of the Clouds is really good, too, but almost too good because it's such an obvious target. Same thing with Sephara, Sky's Blade . Faerie Seer is worth considering, as is Segovian Angel and Squadron Hawk . The Hawks are very strong in my deck, acting as a sort of draw card. Immortal Servitude is also pretty great, often bringing 4 or more 1CMC creatures back from the graveyard for 4.

I think you should try to upgrade the mana-base a bit, or even add in 4x dual-color tap-lands. The mana chart shows that this is blue heavy, so at the least, probably 12 Islands and 8 Plains would help a bit.

Healer's Hawk is awesome. It's got such great value! Windstorm Drake , on the other hand, seems pretty clunky for 5.

I think it will be worth it to cut back you creature count to 24, thereby reducing the deck to 60 cards total, and opening up a few added spots for disruption spells like Negate or Reprobation . Of the creatures here, I think the best are Faerie Miscreant and Healer's Hawk, because both have such strong value for only 1CMC. Next I like with Empyrean Eagle or Thunderclap Wyvern combo-ed with Warden of Evos Isle, but probably not both. Spirit of the Spires, Sprite Noble, and Windstorm Drake seem like the weakest links, costing a lot of mana for less good payoffs. Cloudfin Raptor isn't very strong in my mind either, but at 1CMC, it's an ok choice. I think the aggro strategy will work best when it hits the fastest, so keeping the CMC down to 1-2 for most the creatures is going to get more wins. As it is right now, CMC-wise, it would probably work better with 2-4 more lands.

Grateful Apparition , Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit , Mausoleum Wanderer , Metallic Mimic , Supreme Phantom - it's essential to have a solid 1CMC creature to play T1, and good too keep all but the most essential spells to 2CMC or less.

Glacial Fortress / Temple of Enlightenment would both be helpful if you can afford them. Other potentially useful lands: Cavern of Souls , Unclaimed Territory , Scavenger Grounds , Field of Ruin , Ghost Quarter

Swap Vapor Snag in for Unsummon.

Swap Chart a Course and/or Tezzeret's Gambit in for Think Twice.

Deny Existence keeps too much of your mana reserved. I suggest more dynamic means of dealing with threats instead of reactionary counter-spells. Permanents are easy to deal with - Journey to Nowhere , Oblivion Ring , Path to Exile , Cast Out , Blessed Alliance , Celestial Flare , Pongify , Generous Gift , Reprobation , Imprisoned in the Moon , Oppressive Rays . There are, of course other spells - these are just possibilities off the top of my head.

Other useful spells: Negate , Faith's Shield , Unbreakable Formation , Dovin, Grand Arbiter

Sideboard ideas: Declaration of Naught , Nevermore , Hurkyl's Recall , Revoke Existence , Disenchant , Teyo, the Shieldmage , Leyline of Sanctity , Shalai, Voice of Plenty , Witchbane Orb , Sanctimony , Ratchet Bomb , Elixir of Immortality , Pithing Needle

I usually see a lot of Fog spells paired with Approach. Riot Control is one of my favorite Fogs because it's one of very few that prevents burn and it gains you life, too. Pay No Heed is another spell to prevent burn. Ethereal Haze and Holy Day are also options.

I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt Growth Spiral at Instant speed is worth the multicolor CMC - Explore would be fine at Sorcery speed. That said I don't think either is particularly good. You'd get more mana-mileage out of Fertile Ground .

I consider Negate one of the best counterspells in the game. You can use removal for everything it doesn't work on. ( Celestial Flare , Blessed Alliance , Beast Within , Generous Gift , Imprisoned in the Moon , Pongify , Ratchet Bomb ) Declaration of Naught might be useful to get your devotion up.

I suggest dropping all the Leylines. I like Teyo, the Shieldmage for hexproof. There's also Shalai, Voice of Plenty . You might also consider a sideboard copy of Sanctimony .

Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip if you like Grow from the Ashes.

More control spells: Nevermore , Oblivion Ring , Journey to Nowhere , Reprobation , Lignify , Choke , Quicksilver Fountain Spreading Seas , Pithing Needle .

Probably as much draw and deck thinning as you can fit will help speed you to your wincon - Harmonize , Halimar Depths , Divination , Serum Visions , Terramorphic Expanse

I hope some of this has been helpful!!

Glad some of my suggestions were helpful! Alternatives to Beast Within/Generous Gift: Lignify , Reprobation . While not true removal, in some cases, these spells are actually better - for example, a Lignify on a Doomed Traveler would prevent an opponent from getting a token. The biggest downside to these spells is that protection spells would make the enchantments fall off. So their usefulness is relative to your local meta.

MaStCu Hahaha, Yes! I would love to tell you how the deck plays, that discription isn't too informative :)!

Step 1: Typically, you try to get out Tallowisp asap, but if you don't think it will survive, wait until you can do both Step 1 and 2 at the same time.

Step 2: Cast a Spirit/Arcane spell, search your library for Mask of Law and Grace . Enchant Tallowisp . Sometimes Inviolability /An Umbra works fine, but only in rare circumstances.

Step 3: Cast a Spirit/Arcane spell, search your library for Shield of Duty and Reason . Enchant Tallowisp . Now that that's done, your Tallowisp has protection from everything except white. (Kill white players first because of that)

Step 4: Look around the table, find the most problematic commander. Cast a Spirit/Arcane, search you library for an answer.

Against Disciple of Deceit , Shackles can work, but sometimes Reprobation is necessary. (Use reprobation sparingly, it's your best enchantment.)

Against a Voltron commander, Asha's Favor does the trick surpisingly well. (Assuming that they have hexproof, otherwise Pacifism works fine.)

Against Aggresive decks, Lifelink + Asha's Favor / Ethereal Armor makes it very hard for them to survive.

If you have Plow Through Reito , search up Empyrial Armor for the OTK.

Step 5: You can mostly just start making the rest of your opponents boards unable to attack, while finding Ethereal Armor . Keep in mind that if you need a cath all answer, Reprobation & Choking Restraints are your best bets.

You can also tutor up cantripping auras to make your spirits draw you a card, and give protection to your opponents creatures to make other auras fall off.

Hope this helps!

I think Irregular Cohort needs a bigger land-base. I'd say 20 would be the minimum just for Kabira Evangel. 22-23 is probably necessary for consistency.

Talus Paladin doesn't seem like it's worth 4CMC, especially with an already strained mana-base. Perhaps if there was a lifegain wincon, I'd see the value, but Ondu Cleric should gain you so much life, it just seems like overkill to keep the Paladin. I suggest swapping it out for a lower CMC Ally, probably a blink target like Expedition Envoy .

Tezzeret's Gambit perhaps, for some card draw?

Some additional utility lands might be useful: Field of Ruin / Ghost Quarter , Scavenger Grounds , Buried Ruin

Reprobation might be useful as an inexpensive sideboard option against graveyard recurrence. Blessed Alliance / Celestial Flare also against indestructible and hexproof. Nevermore can shut down a lot of decks, too. Usually good to have instant artifact/enchantment removal - Disenchant , though if you can make enough tokens, Sundering Growth might be worth slowing down to sorcery speed. I like to also run Revoke Existence in the event opponent has graveyard interactions.

Wachichi Yeah, I was already considering Reprobation when it was spoiled -- I feel like having the ability to strip creatures/commanders of their abilities is a must, especially in my play group :)
