100% Tolkien approved!

John Tolkien has risen from the grave simply to approve the ostensible powerhouse that is this deck. After 9 months of tuning, this was a great honour.

Well let's break it down.

Creatures

  • Hero of Bladehold - Though slow, hero comes in very handy for a late-game bomb to push through that last bit of damage.
  • Tidehollow Sculler - Hand disruption that can also become a target of wasted removal, it can slow down an opponent's strategy significantly.

  • Instants

  • Doom Blade - Zoo, Jund, Affinity, it doesn't matter who, somebody is going to try and wreck you with creatures.
  • Path to Exile - Y'all know how good this card is!
  • Zealous Persecution - A super-pump for all of your stuff, plus a possible widespred removal for all of your opponents stuff (if he's running Affinity).

  • Sorceries

  • Gather the Townsfolk - Why this card over Raise the Alarm? Simply because of fateful hour. This ability can be the difference between winning and losing in the late game.
  • Inquisition of Kozilek - It's like Thoughtseize, but less costly, and easily sided out for Duress.
  • Lingering Souls - Getting double usage out of a token spell is where it's at, and this card is no Molten Birth .
  • Spectral Procession - Being able to pay one mana for one token is ultra efficient, it's like a triple Beckon Apparition!
  • Thoughtseize - It's worth the pain.

  • Enchantments

  • Honor of the Pure - It's as good as Intangible Virtue, but now with Hero of Bladehold and Tidehollow Sculler synergies!
  • Intangible Virtue - This is the most core card to the deck. Not drawing this is actually a massive burden.
