Sideboard

Yorion Green and Taxes. Taxes package is pretty standard here. Splashing green to abuse collected company with etbs for value alongside Yorion, Sky Nomad . Consistency can be an issue as the deck runs 80 min thanks to Yorion. Despite this, I haven’t run into many issues, even if Aether Vial is less likely to be in your opening hand. The deck runs main board 8 removal. Skyclave Apparition is a wonderful new toy for D&t players; it even is making splash in legacy. Flickerwisp is still one of the best three drops ever. It’s utility can not be underestimated. Eternal Witness is a great way get back a silver bullet or valuable spell. Collected Company works well here with etbs but also with the utility afforded by the many creatures in the deck, however the card does have issues with Thalia. If we take a moment to analyze the probability of coco hitting than let’s take the bare bones 35 creatures in the deck and we some how haven’t drawn in this hypothetical... coco will hit two creatures at 83% of the time. Let’s assume we’ve drawn into 5 creatures by the time we play coco, than that chance is roughly 73% and that’s not bad odds. Stoneforge Mystic is an important piece of the puzzle and gives us access to powerful equipment. Maul of the Skyclaves is another new toy and almost feels necessary with modern d&t. Obviously Batterskull and Sword of Fire and Ice are here as d&t staples. As an aside getting maul of the skyclaves onto a Batterskull germ token feels good! I’ve curved out the deck to a place I’m mostly comfortable with for a tempo deck. 4 Horizon Canopy gives us necessary draw power and have great utility with eternal witness. Leonin Arbiter is a standard card for d&t as it turns Path to Exile into just, well... exile, and it turns Ghost Quarter into Strip Mine with Field of Ruin into a more expensive Wasteland . Archon of Emeria is another new toy that has proven itself in its short time in the modern meta, however, I’ve not seen a build yet that runs more than 3. I’m running a copy of Stirring Wildwood just for man land support in the off chance of engineered explosives, wrath of god, blast zone, etc. Gavony Township can give our board the edge in the late game. Noble Hierarch feels good popping a skyclave apparition turn 2, or a collected company turn 3. Plus, noble hierarch’s exalted works well enough on it’s own and can make usually tiny creatures big when you turn them sideways at your opponent, (or not sideways with Batterskull). Thanks for reading this far in! D&T has always been one of my favorite decks and now that it’s getting some much needed love in modern I’m willing to give it a shot. Should I be running just the mono white version? Sure, but where’s the fun of a brew if I can’t make my own. Anyway, I’ve been having a blast with this deck and I hope you do too.
