TheGeneralAdvisor One time with Krark's Thumb I won 14 coin flips on my turn, then I cast Chandra's Ignition dealing 16384 damage to everyone, it was pretty great lmao

I'm surprised that you're not running any artifact tutors. Is Krark's Thumb just not that important?

xStormyx It's less that and more the fact that I like to have each of my games play out differently, so I tend to not run tutors to keep with the theme of chaos. Gamble is on theme, but tutors also tend to draw out people's turns, so my playgroup tends not to play them often. We're also decently casual though, so if you wanted to make the deck more consistent than definitely add some tutors

Got really lucky with the Thumb on my first game, resolved 14 and 16 flips. Did a 40,000 dmg attack. Might take out the janky single flip cards for unblockable/combo pieces. Flip 'em Off

moysturizer Yeah, thumb is awesome lol, looking at your deck, I also used a lot of the other coin flip cards that you are using, but Two-Headed Giant and Mana Clash both don't work with them. I also got rid of most cards that required you to pay some form of tax or do something to be able to flip a coin (like Sorcerer's Strongbox and the creatures that flip when they attack/block) and replaced them with more chaos-ey cards because most of the time the other cards end up being dead, so I could stay on theme while still having.

I do like the deck though! You are running some chaos-ey cards that my playgroup dislikes such as Planar Chaos, Hive Mind and Tide of War, so I'd imagine that you have a larger effect on the gamestate with the drawback of drawing more attention to yourself. It's an interesting version of the deck!

I'm sad about having to actually have a win/lose flip to interact, but the commanders are stronger than I thought. I'll add back in the last artifact search Whir of Invention and probably some welder abilities for any repeated hate. I had a pet vintage coin deck and wanted to make a silly coin deck, but the power differential between the 1 time flips and the creatures that flip to attack compared with the commander might be an issue. With the addition of Impulsive Maneuvers to the chaos you mentioned, I definitely lack solutions to becoming the Archenemy. Playing it like a lucky combo deck could be fun, with Zndr providing the draw to protect.

moysturizer Yeah, that's why I tend to play the off-control player. Cards like Puppet's Verdict and Chaos Warp make the game tense but also allow you to show that you can try** to help clear big threats, all while getting more value than you reasonably should with Zndrsplt. The nice thing with Okaum with cards like Fling and Chandra's Ignition is that you really don't need to use him at all until you get a way to force a win condition, so you can just play it safe and draw cards for most of the game.

That being said, definitely play the deck the way that you want to play it! I'd say you could either power it down by removing instant-win conditions and make it a janky meme deck (with some random punch that gives memorable moments), give yourself more answers and let Zndrsplt (and possibly other cards) give you a value engine, or give yourself ways to randomly win in one turn, but you might also find some other interesting ways to play with it!

Frenetic Sliver does not work with chance encounter, check it out on the gatherer. :)

SynergyBuild says... #10

Frenetic Sliver does only work once with it, because it says 'If this creature is on the battlefield, [...]' so that no matter what happens, multiple stacked triggers of this don't do anything outside of Crackdown Construct or Ceaseless Searblades + Arcane Adaptation.

I really like your deck but it could really use some other editions such as Laboratory Maniac and Reliquary Tower lab could be useful if you have krarks thumb since you could potentially mill yourself out but at the very least reliquary tower is a must hoped this helped

First of all, thanks Flooremoji and SynergyBuild for mentioning that! I learned about that from somebody else but I never changed the description.

And CountBlek those are some solid suggestions! I should definitely add Reliquary Tower, but I find that I don't run into enough situations that would make Laboratory Maniac useful. The thing with Krark's Thumb is that it usually gets removed within a turn or two of coming out, so I don't want to run lab maniac just for the two-card combo since I would barely ever run into it. Take Chance Encounter as a good example: at its core it's a similar idea to the other combo, however I have never actually won with it. I understand that it is slower than the other combo, but it also requires less setup and is more difficult to get rid of. I think that if Lab Maniac was also a lower price it'd give me more of an incentive to try to run it, but right now I don't think that it is worth it. Thanks though! They are good suggestions, just not things that I run into often.

Also how much did the deck cost when you first made it? I'm interested in getting this deck but 80 is a bit much so im trying to see if I can get it lower

Not sure 100%; I actually built the deck before they even made Zndrsplt and Okaum (Started off with Ruhan of the Fomori, then Keranos, God of Storms. Printing the coin flip partners inflated the price of the deck a lot. Keep in mind, for a Commander deck, this price is actually considered "budget", but swapping out Ral Zarek, Goblin Bomb, Fiery Gambit, Lightning Greaves, Shivan Reef and Karplusan Minotaur would save you a total of $32 bringing the cost of the deck down to $55. Chance Encounter is $10 and Krark's Thumb is around $6, but they are both pretty much win conditions of the deck (although the deck will still be fun and depending on the power level of your playgroup you might be able to afford keeping them out). Feel free to start off without those cards though, and replace them with something else initially (counterspells and removal probably, or ways to protect your creatures).

If you removed every card that I mentoned and replaced them with cards that you already had, you'd be saving around $47, and even then you could replace Puppet's Verdict, Mystic Confluence, Game of Chaos, Counterspell and Strionic Resonator for cheaper cards, saving $13 extra bringing the total savings up to $61

Basically what I'm saying is that if you really wanted to go budget, you could probably manage to make the deck for around $20-$30 (although I may be missing cards with "unknown" costs and other factors such as rounding error and the extra price that card shops tack on). I can try to make a budget list but I won't be playtesting it so I can't tell you 100% if it works. Hope this helps!

I've been thinking of putting Krark's Other Thumb in my deck since the premise is so out there to begin with.

moysturizer That'd be funny although it doesn't really have any synergy with the deck, you could make a deck using The Big Idea though

@poorpinkus: This actually looks like a great deck, sir (Madam?)! As a matter of fact, I'm literally torn between this style of play for my Okaun, Eye of Chaos + Zndrsplt, Eye of Wisdom deck, or just cutthroat chaos. & I mean w/o coins, aside from the CMDRS. Welp, you made my decision for me. Thanks, poorpinkus! :)

BMHKain Thanks! That means a lot to me! I hope you have loads of fun with the deck. I tried to strike a balance between chaos and goodness without making the deck annoying to play against, and I'm really proud of it

@poorpinkus: So much in fact, I think my deck might be significantly similar to yours in many ways after I finish it. So, I don't want to blatantly steal your idea for this deck; & I don't like netdecking either; so I hope we can compromise on this: How does one use a deck for another's as inspiration in this case(I've yet to do that for any deck of mine, considering I might not have that feature... :/)? I'm giving you full credit for this deck, while I get credit for my own deck. Truly sorry about this... I'll work on the deck from here, but I just want to know if the approval is granted, or denied. :/

Didn't think I'd make it this far... Maybe I could learn from this & likewise for my own. What do you think poorpinkus?

poorpinkus says... #25

BMHKain Looks like it'll work pretty well so far! Seems like a higher-budget version of this deck.

Some things that you could change: Tide of War personally was never worth it, since it discourages attacking and puts a target on your head for 6 mana, and usually you'll want people to attack for cards like Desperate Gambit and Impulsive Maneuvers (and you don't want Okaum dying with a huge amount of P/T either). Two-Headed Giant is on-flavour, but he doesn't actually work with your commanders. Skyclaw Thrash and Mijae Djinn tend to not have a big effect on the board since the biggest wincon is usually either Chance Encounter or Okaum (although I understand if he gets hated out a lot). If you're going for a higher-power deck, you could probably remove even more coin flip cards like Crooked Scales, Mogg Assassin and Volatile Rig, replacing them with mass removal, unblockable enablers or different on-theme cards like Chaos Warp or Stitch in Time. I definitely think that Lightning Greaves and Chandra's Ignition are huge cards for my deck, so I'd really suggest using them, and if you are looking to go on the more control side with Zndrsplt, Planar Chaos would be a good addition. Maybe even Laboratory Maniac depending on how many cards you're getting from the additional draw engines (with Impulsive Maneuvers it's easy to draw a ton of cards, and you have Frenetic Efreet which lets you flip as many coins as you want, not to mention Krark's Thumb), although I didn't go for that angle since my deck focuses more on killing with Okaum.

As for positives, I like the idea of Sunbird's Invocation, Tyrant of Discord and Etali, Primal Storm! They fit the flavour of the deck while adding more value. I think in general you have a good spread of card advantage and wincons. It looks like you're going for more general value with Zndrsplt and a splash of unblockable for Okaum, which seems like a good take on the deck since Okaum is a wincon without much extra effort. The cheeky Drift of Phantasms is a great way to find Frenetic Efreet or Fabricate (for Krark's Thumb) as well, and I actually meant to include Muddle the Mixture but forgot, that's a great card for the deck!
