Living End ( I'd Cycle that)

Modern Combo Competitive Living End

Je2ter

Sideboard

Planning on Playing this at FNM this week. Will share results.

My first Living End deck. Any suggestions appreciated. The main goal is a have a viable deck to take to FNM and local tournaments or matches. The second is to have fun with the deck that brought me back into MTG. Remember this is how I play it and by no means the best or only way possible. Feel free to try it out and alter to fit your style.

Living End revolves around three card types: cascade spells, cycle cards and Living End itself. The idea is to fill the graveyard, then cascade into a Living End. This should change the board state in your favor and you should have a number of fat creature in play.

This deck lacks player interaction so get used to people not wanting to verse you over and over again. The first few turns are spent cycling creatures, maybe destroying land to slow down your opponent with Avalanche Riders or Fulminator Mage. Then cascade with Violent Outburst or Demonic Dread when the time feels right.

Update

In order to ensure that your cascade spells will hit Living End, it's imperative that you do NOT run other spells that you could potentially cascade into instead of it. That being said, it is easiest to assume that any nonland cards with converted mana cost 2 or less are unplayable in this deck.

My reasoning behind card selection.

Lands

I run 19 lands. The things that should be noted.I replace the normal 4Verdant Catacombs with 2 Bloodstained Mires and 2Wooded Foothills. This option is cheaper and works very well. Second thing is the one utility land I run is Dryad Arbor. Kessig Wolf Run is another great option.

Creatures

Just a basic creature base to cycle with and a few land destructions. Fulminator Mage is great in modern most decks run multicolor decks. Avalanche Riders to supplement the LD plan.Last creature I feel like mentioning is Simian Spirit Guide. Just in case you need to cascade a turn early or like keeping your opponent on their toes.

Sorcery and Instant

Nothing to strange here. Only three Living End so we don't draw into as often.Beast Within to give a target for Demonic Dread if needed. Also has other uses too.

Artifact

Sideboard

This is to deal with the major threats you could/will be facing. Ingot Chewer to slow down affinity.Shriekmaw to help with Scavenging Ooze and removal for aggro matches. Gnaw to the Bone Great to help with Burn and RDW Leyline of the Void Versing something that needs a graveyard ? If you going to run these a 4-of is a must. Ricochet Trap To counter blue and the dreaded Remanded Living End.
