I feel a bit iffy about the Increasing Confusion, but otherwise it's very good.

Nephalia Drownyard is a must at Mill deck, and I. Think you should put 24 lands... I've playtested yours Vs mine and I had to mulligan your deck many times...

The_Raven says... #4

Formortiis; Yea... I know. Increasing Confusion might not seem so good. But actually, it's a game winner so many times. But... Thank you. I will now have an ekstra eye on Increasing Confusion :D.

Evael; Oh! Nephalia Drownyard is a good card. But it cost both Black and Blue. And my mill deck is only Blue...

I have thought about putting land number 24 in the deck. But, my AVG-CMC is only 2.20. But i will playtest the land number 24.

But! If i put another land in the deck, which card do i have to remove?

Evael, Formortiis and every body else; What are you thinking about having so many lands that comes into play tapped? And lands that don't produce corlered mana?

Jace's Erasure and Jace's Archivist is a combo. They draw cards but also mill the same amount. While you always have a new hand when you don't like your current hand. Tome Scour Would be a good card to use also. And of coarse both jace's are good to play

The_Raven says... #6

dvizzier; I would really love to have those cards in my deck. But what should I take out to put them in?

July 17, 2013 12:04 p.m.

dvizzier says... #7

-1 traumatize -1 increasing confusion -4 archive trap -1 thought scour -1 fog bank -1 hedron crab +3 Jace's Archivist +3 Jace's Erasure +3 Tome Scour i guess. Id personall get rid of archive trap and hedron crab, but either way is good.

July 17, 2013 12:24 p.m.

Formortiis says... #8

There's about a dozen other better cards to run over Increasing Confusion. Mind Sculpt and Tome Scour come to mind.

July 17, 2013 2:34 p.m.

dvizzier says... #9

actually... get rid of Increasing Confusion and -1 Traumatize -4 Hedron Crab OR Archive Trap to do +3 of the cards i recommended earlier, because increasing confusion sucks :)

I would use Dissipate instead of Mana Leak since most threats like Elixir of Immortality is one drops. Your opponent may be happy to pay 4 for that elixir of he is about to get milled out..

Formortiis and dvizzier; I'm thinking of removing Increasing Confusion . You were right. It isn't that great. I'm thinking of putting Mesmeric Orb . Would that be good? is there a card thats better than Mesmeric Orb ?

dvizzier; Removing my Hedron Crab and Archive Trap ?! Are you insane? :D Hedron Crab is so AMAZING! 3 cards each turn? YES! And Archive Trap ? Every one in Modern searches their libary with Fetch-lands. But then BOOM! 13 cards milled! So great. I will NEVER remove those cards!

smackjack; Dissipate instead of Mana Leak ? Hm... I like that Mana Leak only cost 2 mana.

I know that Elixir of Immortality is the nemesis of this deck. but then, i have Ravenous Trap ! But I will still consider your advice! Thanks!

I just have to do this.

Tome Scour

July 19, 2013 6:04 p.m.

The_Raven says... #13

Matsi883; are you so sure that Tome Scour is better than Mesmeric Orb ?

July 20, 2013 3:08 a.m.

Matsi883 says... #14

Fior a mill deck that wants to win very quickly, Mesmeric Orb does nothing to affect the game immediately and is not that good against decks that don't contribute much to the board. Tome Scour mills 10% of their library on turn 1, whiile Mesmeric Orb mills 10% by turn 4.

July 20, 2013 6:28 a.m.

The_Raven says... #15

Okay Matsi883. I will try to run Tome Scour over Increasing Confusion .

Thanks for the help! :D

The sideboard could do with some work. What decks are you wanting to beat?

July 21, 2013 2:44 p.m.

The_Raven says... #17

LeaPlath; I'm afraid of milling Emrakul/Kozilek. Mill them, whole GY into libary. Therefore Ravenous Trap . Also it's good vs Elixir of Immortality .

Also Echoing Truth is good if i face a token deck. And also good against quick infect decks.

Telemin Performance is good if i face a non-creature deck. It can actually mill a whole deck.

Psychic Spiral is good against other mill decks.

What are you thinking that should be changed in my sideboard?

Which is best - Increasing Confusion , Mesmeric Orb or Tome Scour ?

July 21, 2013 4:07 p.m.

MollyMab says... #18

Tome Scour is consistent. You also want Snapcaster Mage though.

July 21, 2013 4:10 p.m.

The_Raven says... #19

LeaPlath; I would LOVE Snapcaster Mage but this deck is a budget deck :D. They are sooooooo expensive!

I will go with the Tome Scour then! Thanks!

Should something in the sideboard be changed or what?

July 21, 2013 5:22 p.m.

Thi is my sideboard for my modern mill deck, although mine is espar.

3x Hurkyl's Recall (for affinity matchups) 3x Leyline of the Void (stops cards from ever entering the graveyard (no shuffle in trigger from the eldrazi for example)) 3x Mindbreak Trap (storm decks also works well against infect decks) 3x Slaughter Pact (stops twin combo and hurts zoo as well) 3x Torpor Orb (stops twin combo, and pod decks, also shuts down snapcaster for control matchups)

July 21, 2013 9:40 p.m.

dvizzier says... #21

i'd say, Jace, Memory Adept over jace beleren. MILL is more control than aggro (not counting legacy mill of coarse) so i would place more counter spells and removal cards in the deck instead of creatures. example; Cancel (Counterspell if it's legal in modern...) Vapor Snag . i really don't know much about playing mono blue mill though... and like i said before; Jace's Archivist and Jace's Erasure combo. with a few more draw spell in your deck for example Pilfered Plans and the new card Opportunity just recommendations!!! :D

peterlravn

I would go and run Surgical Extraction and Relic of Progenitus to hit Eldrazi and fight graveyard decks. Torpor Orb fights ETB decks like Birthing Pod and shuts down a lot of value creatures. Echoing Truth is fine Dispel for fighting control decks/burn decks.

July 22, 2013 3:46 a.m.

The_Raven says... #23

LeaPlath and AzrielBarakiel; So my SB should be like this or what?

3x Dispel (Counter/Burn/Non-creature decks)

3x Echoing Truth (Token and Infect)

3x Torpor Orb (ETB decks? Don't know what it is... Want to tell me?)

3x Psychic Spiral (Other mill decks)

3x Ravenous Trap /Relic of Progenitus /Tormod's Crypt (Eldrazi and GY decks)

dvizzier; Jace, Memory Adept is EXPENSIVE!! This is budget! I will put some Dispel in SB. So i always can swap them out! :D

Jace's Archivist and Jace's Erasure ... Hm.... Hm... Hm... I... I'm not sure about this combo... But thanks for your help!

July 22, 2013 4:55 p.m.

MollyMab says... #24

Psychic Spiral is bad. There aren't very many other Mill decks in the format. It is 5 mana and bad so too expensive to main deck.

I would go.2 Dispel3 Echoing Truth2 Torpor Orb (Fights Birthing Pod and Splinter Twin decks)3 Relic of Progenitus (cantrip is important and stops Eldrazi)2 Surgical Extraction3 flex slots which you can tune to your meta. I would personally suggest Spellskite.
