Stasis? Yes, I wish it were the 90s too.

So, I hate creatures and I love Stasis. I also miss prison decks. Here's an attempt to recreate (in spirit) one of the first "real" decks I played back in the day.

Some choices are made because that's what I own, and I'm not overflowing in money. Anyway, here goes...

The Prison Lock:

4 Stasis Is usually intended to arrive after Ral Zarek so I can continually untap an Island to pay its upkeep. However, with four of them in the deck and some Enlightened Tutors to help fetch more, I'm not above dropping an early Stasis to help buy some time to draw what I need.

3 Ral Zarek His +1 ability is killer with Stasis (though everyone knew that already). I also love the idea of using his +1 to tap my Winter Orb during the extra turns I snag off his ultimate.

2 Winter Orb Additional prison element. It doesn't play as beautifully with Ral as Stasis does, but it fits in perfectly with what the deck tries to do.

2 Chain of Vapor to bounce my stasis back if necessary.

Forsaken City is another non Ral option to keep stasis going.

Ghostly Prison is a singleton because I won't always want it and when I do I can fetch it with tutor. Helps stop pesky creatures from attacking, especially when stasis is out.

The Control:

4 Force of Will Because blue.

3 Daze Becomes a free counter in a mana restrictive environment and allows me to bounce a land to replay it later for Stasis upkeep.

2 Spell Pierce Cheap counter that taxes an already taxed mana situation for my opponent. I also love this card.

4 Swords to Plowshares Because I hate creatures.

The Digs:

2 Fact or Fiction help dig for Ral Zarek specifically. With an effective count of six Stasis and three Winter Orb, Ral's the only piece I really need help finding.

4 Brainstorm Because blue.

2 Enlightened Tutor This guy is what forced me to go . With it, I can find: Stasis, Winter Orb, Black Vise, or Keranos, God of Storms . Huge.

The Ways we Win:

2 Black Vise Hands quickly fill up when you can't play anything, and this ensures opponents pay for doing nothing with their cards.

Chandra, Flamecaller Safe behind a Stasis lock, Chandra can tick up toward the win or +0 to refill my hand as needed without having to worry about protecting herself.

fevered vision Helps fill my hand, and provides a slow and painful death for opponents - it's not like they'll be able to use the cards they draw off of it anyway.
