Hello, thanks for looking at my personal modern list. To start off, I will say that budget is a major limiting factor in my card choice, which means my card pool is limited to less expensive cards. Delver of Secrets   Show

Delver is more or less removal bait and an occasional beater. The real threats are the delve creatures and pyromancers.

Young Pyromancer Show

Young Pyromancer is a go-wide strategy akin to Lingering Souls, which pairs well with the cantrips we run.

Tasigur, the Golden Fang and Gurmag Angler Show

Big beaters that we can get out earliest turn 2. Gurmag is just a great value creature and Tasigur's activation combined with delve make for getting back useful cards.

Inquisition of Kozilek Show

Hand hate that doesn't take life. Also its a cheap but effective card that usually plucks a useful card out of an opponents hand. Sometimes it's a dead card and is sided out often.

Thought Scour Show

Fills the graveyard and Cantrips. Pretty much an auto include but is weaker because I'm not running any Snapcaster Mages.

Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver Show

Ashiok is one of those cards where people say it's a bad card and you shouldn't play it because no one else plays it. It's a fun, unique card to play where the more it sits the more value it generates.

Jace, Architect of Thought Show

This card is good for slowing down token decks such as Mardu Pyromancer and generates value with its -2 ability. The -8 ability is almost never relevant.

Bedlam Reveler Show

Good for refilling your hand and is mostly cast for 2-4 mana instead of the full 8. The prowess is also relevant when attacking into blockers and blocking attackers as a psuedo combat trick.

Remand Show

With this deck I want to focus more on tempo than control, and the draw is super relevant in slowing down opponents and getting yourself ahead at the same time. Additionally, if your spells are getting countered, you can remand your
