Both abilities are from Alliances and I think they should make a comeback. Take one of them and make another card in its cycle. (refer to Death Spark and Balduvian War-Makers and Varchild's War-Riders for Alliances examples of these mechanics). If you choose the latter mechanic, feel free to give it a keyword name.

Thanks dude! All credit to you for the idea, Death Spark is my new favorite deck.
I'm trying to figure out what the best spot removal is for this deck... Obviously, we'd prefer a creature or at worst, an enchantment, since Commune with the Gods can grab it. But, at least for Chainer's Edict, we can flash it back if it's milled...
I couldn't find much in the way of reasonable creature-based removal outside of Faceless Butcher, which seems pretty bad, to me. I'll have to go check out enchantments... Spire Golem and Thermo-Alchemist have been issues in my playtesting.
I'll be playing it this Thursday and Saturday IRL, and will offer results in an update after each tournament

In a similar vein as the last comment, except all commons, here are more non-creature spells that you can cast more than twice, since they can return to your hand: Brilliant Halo, Cage of Hands, Cessation, Contempt, Conviction, Crown of Flames, Death Spark, Fiery Mantle, Gossamer Chains, Launch, Mark of Fury, Petals of Insight, Shackles, Shimmering Wings, Slow Motion, and Volrath's Curse.
