Almost a full month into the new format and one thing is for certain... RDW was definately overlooked as a "Real Thing" It keeps piling up the W's for me.. Lightning Mauler was cute in the deck and did offer some great t3 plays, however.. It was much less consistant than the original Rakdos Shred-Freak.. My local meta has become increasingly more difficult to play in as well.. I can't put my finger on the reason why, but so many people have started packing even MORE lifegain in their sideboards... hmm.. Not sure if i get to run it for Game Day this weekend.. GP Philadelphia is tomorrow and it's only about an hour drive from here. Sealed Format. Here's hoping I do good enough that I don't get to play at home Sun!
making it modern
Dromar39, 12 years ago
im gonna update this deck for modern play. Unfortunately no ponder or preordain, but will make this work. Any ideas or comment would be helpful thanks

-Selesnya Signet
+Recross the Paths
Ramp any land into play untapped, has a chance of being reusable? Sure.
-Elspeth Tirel
+Eldrazi Monument
Explosion Elspeth just drew hate -- I'd rather more resilience than a boardwipe that more often than not hosed myself too
-Elvish Piper
+Ajani Goldmane
Stuff is cheap, and this deck has more than enough mana ramp to just hardcast anything it needs to, even on others' turns (via Winding Canyon). I can probably do better than old Ajani for this slot but we'll see.
spiritualEDH, 12 years ago
I completely and utterly changed this into an all white deck now. Dual lands are expensive haha. Tried to get +1 +1's from Mikaeus and Ajani. And overpower FTW (before others get big things out)

Thanks for all the feedback so far, deck's starting to shape up nicely. Gonna try this out at an FNM sometime in the future, still open to any improvements that can be made.
FNM
JangoMTG, 12 years ago
Played a 4 Round FNM Standard Tourney 1-2 against a Predator Ooze/Champion of Lambholt +1/+1 deck | 0-2 against a faster Aggro Red Deck | 2-1 against a Mill deck | Bye Overall unimpressed with how my deck responds to others, deciding to take out Thatchers Revolt and main board x3 Thalia. Also want to find space for Brimstone Volleys, they were very effectively used against me.
Changes Made

Ok so I swapped out a bunch of cards per Vradinolfi's suggestions. I have yet to playtest it but i like the shape this is taking right now. However I would like some cheaper .usd options for the blood crypts until i can afford them.
broodwarjc, 12 years ago
Trying out some new stuff in the deck to diversify it.

-4x Centaur Healer --> +4x Primordial Hydra
-1x Selesnya Charm --> +1x Revenge of the Hunted

Playtest - Mono Green Aggro/Ramp
Rodizzle, 12 years ago
I just played 5 games with a friend running his mono green Aggro/Ramp deck, I was only able to win one of the games by delaying his creatures(Detention Sphere/Feeling of Dread/Etc.)
This was not using the sideboard (x3 Supreme Verdict) as I didn't have my whole deck here at work. I'm sure that would of had a huge impact against his style of deck.
I'll be updating the deck to include:
- Mainboard
3x Rootborn Defenses (Need to populate the Angel produced by Geist of Saint Traft & keep him in play) -3 Druid's Deliverance (Rootborn Defenses will replace the need for these for the most part)

Trostani, Selesnya's Voice is out, she really only works with the Wurm since I've taken out Call of the Conclave in the most recent build. One more Sublime Archangel is in, and one more Thragtusk.
update

Did some testing against a Golgari deck went 2-1. Did faily well. I added a Gavony Township for a Forest. Also, i dropped the 3 Cloudshift for 3 Restoration Angel. I'll be doing some more testing tonight at my local FNMMana fixing

Seems this deck has its moments, but is bogged down by the splash of blue. Added +2 Evolving Wilds and +1 Transguild Guildgate at the expense of a few Mountains... Trying to avoid dumping serious coin on Steam Vents

CrAzInAtOr, 12 years ago
I replaced Tyrant of Discord and Balefire Dragon with Sigarda, Host of Herons and two Call to the Kindred while also removing Griselbrand (wasn't easy to do) and 1 Golgari Charm. In place of the rest of those I added two Sulfur Falls and 1 Dragonskull Summit for extra protection just in case I have to hardcast Gisela or play Call to the Kindred
More suggestions! Things I didn't think of before, guys, thanks for the help!

Made some more big changes... Took out the Dark Impostors and Falkenrath Marauders. Added another 3 Stromkirk Nobles and 3 Falkenrath Aristocrats. Moved Slaughter Games to the sideboard and upped Devil's Play to 4. Added another Vampire Nocturnus, 4 Cavern of Souls and upped Dragonskull Summit and Blood Crypt to 4 each. Just in time for FNM. :)
Wow

So, it seems like this deck sort of exploded in popularity. lol It's gotten to the point that I'd actually like to play it. I obviously can't afford all the Shocklands, but I can find replacements for the time being. In the mean time, if anyone would like to contribute to this deck with some Keyrunes, it'd be much appreciated. :p

I took out Elbrus, the Binding Blade Flip and boarded in Sun Quan, Lord of WuAngel of glory's rise
Vos_Is_Boss, 12 years ago
Tonight, im going to add Angel of Glory's Rise to my sideboard to hopefully counter some control decks. Not many of them will be just killing my humans, but sending them to exile or my library instead. So i want to test out how relavent Angel of Glory's Rise would be in most scenarios against control decks.
I predict a game changing win against a black control deck, but absolutely nothing against a blue one. But we shall see.

I recently added Tragic Slip, Pillar of Flame, Searing Spear, Dreadbore and Blood Crypt to my deck and removed Dead Weight, Murder, Exquisite Blood and a couple of Duress and added a few extra cards to my sideboard just in case. I got destroyed by players who had Olivia Voldaren in their sideboards after knowing that my deck is a Vampire type. I could deal significant amounts of damage to them, but once Olivia's out and I don't take her out, my vampires got totally screwed and got controlled by my opponents. Let's see if there's an improvement...
Harvest Pyre
MTGtechie, 12 years ago
Thinking of removing the Harvest Pyres for 1 more Vampire Nighthawk, and 1 more Thunderous Wrath, sound like a good move?
Jarhead12, 12 years ago
So made some changes to the deck that I think will have a great effect on the synergies of the deck and how it plays, but only play testing will show if the changes are good or bad? +1 if you like the deck , and any comments or advice would be majorly appreciated.

Also, Dreadbore smashes plainswalkers over and over again, because Treasured Find keeps bringing it back (or any other spell you just happen to need at the moment).
