TCG player 5k Ft. Worth

So I took this list to a 4-4-1 finish at the TCG Player 5K this weekend. Got 83rd out of 250ish people. Overall pretty stoked on how it performed, but I think it needs tweaks. Got a lot of compliments on the deck and it was fun confusing my opponent on what I was running. UW Control : 2-1 Mono Red Devotion : 0-2 Bant Control : 2-1 Selesnya Aggro : 2-1 Mono Green Devotion : 2-1 Boros Burn : 1-2 Junk : 1-2 - I had a temporary brain fart on how Voice worked and put 2 7-7's in play... UW Control : 0-2 UW Control : 1-1-1 This was my first big tourney and I can't wait to do another.

Replacements
lordofphyrexia, 11 years ago
Replaced Snake of the Golden Grove, Grizzled Outcasts, Satyr Grovedancer, and Perilous Myr, with Goldenhide Ox, Roaring Primadox, Voyaging Satyr, and Noble Quarry. I originally wasn't going to use bestow creatures, but Noble Quarry can save ruric from a deadly blocker, or enable a game winning swing, I can also bestow it when ruric isn't out. Oh yeah, also replaced the regular Maze Rusher with a foil one.

old sideboard
Sagi007, 11 years ago
Redone sideboard. (old) 4 Slaughter Games 3 Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver 2 Jace, Memory Adept 2 Crypt Incursion 2 Far // Away 2 Ultimate Price
-1 Slaughter Games -3 Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver -2 Jace, Memory Adept -2 Ultimate Price
+3 Shock +1 Anger of the Gods +3 Negate +1 Dispel
AotG for more wipe against aggro and Shock makes a great early play against them and serves as increased burn card for Master of Cruelties
Negate and Dispel are the additional counterspells vs control paired with Slaughter Games and Thoughtseize

Changed to a selesnya deck due to over-complication of tri-color mana base, and the deck was too slow. Took out Kiora, the Crashing Wave

Not sure if should add sensei top combo or cloudstone/aluren combo. I need ways to get consistent infinite storm and still need to cut some cards. Looking for suggestions.
1-of 's
CurdBrosBrewingCo, 11 years ago
I've had a couple questions about the use of 1-of cards within the deck. Obviously, having full sets of Serum Visions and Gitaxian Probe changes our ability to play less of some spells and still see them in numerous games ...Even with this, however; I can understand concern when seeing only one copy if some cards on when reading them on a list. I realize it is hard to see without playing the deck how 1-ofs could be played with relative consistency. There is a method to my madness though. :)
The one-of's all have a range of uses:
- Boros Charm
has three choices. - Cryptic Command has four.
- Electrolyze can deal with 1 or 2 creatures, simply burn and always draw a card.
- Restoration Angel can save a creature, re-trigger a Snapcaster, etc.).
- Chandra, Pyromaster can ping and tap down or "draw" you into one of your cantrips, burn spells, or even a land!
This makes it so there is always utility to be gained from the card in any match up.
Each card is VERY powerful in select situations:
- Electrolyze can be a 3-for-1 against weenies, elves, 2 dark confidants, etc.
- Boros Charm
can "counter" a board wipe. - Chandra, Pyromaster can tap down the one creature on board to get Geist through.
- Restoration Angel can save a Geist you used to block so you can attack for lethal (with 7 in the air the next turn alone).
All net you cards 90% of the time:
- Electrolyze cantrips.
- Boros Charm
saves multiple creatures or kills a planeswalker that can represent multiple spells. - Restoration Angel saves a creature outside of herself or bounce a Snapcaster to play another card!
- Chandra, Pyromaster is a planeswalker (which already represents multiple spells) that also has a "pseudo-card-draw" ability.
- Cryptic Command has a card draw function, but can also bounce one of theirs.
The cards are all chosen because they have HUGE upside with very little downside. Worst case, they perform a useful task and replace themselves with another card (be it drawn or saved)...best case, they crush the opponents plan.
So while they may seem slightly out of place when listed; I promise there is a reason each was chosen as a 1-of :).
Having said this, I am always open to comments and have no issue playing more if any of them. They are all great cards and if I can find a spot for another copy, I'd love it! Thanks so much for everyone's help this far!

They all hate me now and want to burn this deck XD. We had seven players including me playing and on about turn 8 or 9 i was able to get the infinite turn loop out with Beacon of Tomorrows and one guy said i was "stalling" and lose automatically but i proved to him i would win buy stealing everybody's creatures and make them attack. I almost got Beacon of Tomorrows banned from the future commander tournaments! XD...but instead they are going to implement a 3 extra turns allowed per round house rule...
There is a love-hate relationship with everyone who goes against this deck!

-2 Bile Blight+2 Far / Away
Bile Blight sucks vs Big Ones, but it is awesome vs tokens.
Far/Away is just to good to not be used.
