I've made a few decks, some good, some terrible, but I really feel like i've struck gold with this one. There's been a few ideas to use Tree of Perdition with
Soul Separator
, but it feels like it's really fleshed out to be as reliable as possible in this build. enjoy.
so of course the main goal is to get Tree of Perdition into the yard and then drag it out with
Soul Separator
, ideally on your opponent's eot so that you can instantly drop them to 1 at the start of your next turn, then swing in with some bug tokens and whatever else you might have available.
Crawling Sensation is the card that i find really makes this deck tick, since almost everything else is there for you to cycle through your deck faster and help get the combo pieces where you need them, this card gives you much needed blockers when you need them, And once your combo goes off, you just need one of their attacks to get through.
Decimator of the Provinces
. Is out, just wasn't pulling his weight, too hard to cast reliably, and there weren't usually enough bugs for the cast trigger to be worth it.
The Gitrog Monster is another all-star in this deck, the way that he synergizes with crawling sensation is a work of art. he just digs and digs for combo pieces non stop, but he's honestly tough enough to win games on his own.
Triskaidekaphobia unfortunately didn't make the cut. Maybe if it were 3 mana, maybe if it didn't have a chance of killing you, but as it is, it's just too clunky and unreliable to fit in the deck.
Sinister Concoction
is the perfect removal for this deck, cheap, fast, can trigger an insect or a gitrog card draw, and get tree of perdition in the yard if it's stuck in your hand when
Soul Separator
is ready to go.
Added
Deathcap Cultivator
because he's just got a ton of utility to add to the deck.
Greenwarden of Murasa
has been moved to the maybeboard just because almost every situation that I had a chance to use him in, I wished I had something else.
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
and
Void Winnower
added to mainboard. Nothing funnier than killing someone out with your 1/1 flying ulamog or denying all of their even cmc spells, and in both cases you get one hell of a body along with them either a 10/10 or 11/9.
Vessel of Nascency is important because it allows you to choose an artifact to go to your hand, so you can often find your
Soul Separator
this way.
Added Westvale Abbey
since there are a lot of times that you will have 5+ creatures, 6+ mana, need some life, and need a flyer. It was never a matter of if, only when.
Noxious Gearhulk
is mainboard now. He's easy to hard cast and then if needed, after he dies you can respawn him (at instant speed I might add) with soul separator. Particularly effective against the 7/11 boat which has become quite popular at my LGS.
Bane of Bala Ged added as an interesting target for
Soul Separator
. It doesn't do as much against tokens, but hey, I'll take anhillator in standard anytime.
Yahenni's Expertise just felt like a good card for the main board since I ran into a lot of aggro creature setups at my last FNM. Sure it kills my bugs, but usually I'm at an advantage to rebuild faster than my opponent especially if you use this to cheat out Crawling Sensation or
Soul Separator
