Sideboard

This is my take of a semi-budget Aetherworks Marvel deck. The idea of getting a 9 or 10 mana creature on turn 4 appealed to me instantly so, naturally, I worked with a few friends to make a prototype deck. This is a more perfected build after watching Yuuya Watanabe's success with semi-control during the pro tour, particularly the devastation of Censor. To keep this deck budget, I'm running 4 Void Winnowers as opposed to Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. The Winnower is the best high-cost, high-end spell that I could find that even comes close to how much Ulamog alters the game. When playing against another Marvel deck, a Winnower prevents them from casting either the Marvel or Ulamog since they are both even cost spells. In the ever-so-present Zombie decks, the Winnower prevents mid-game casts of Metallic Mimic, Dread Wanderer, or even Grasp of Darkness. Chandra, Flamecaller also proves to be valuable in this deck, whether to mount an offensive, discard a dead hand, or clear the board, she's proven to be a good all-rounder for this deck.In terms of counter spells, Dispel is a good option for artifact hate like Dissenter's Deliverance or other counter spells that would otherwise prevent your plan from unfolding. Censor is just a good all-arounder in early to mid game and can cycle late game. Negate is another option for various non-creature spells that you may deem threatening. For energy production to get the Aetherworks Marvel spinning, your general suspects are represented. In a perfect world you would have yourself a turn one Attune with Aether, turn two Woodweaver's Puzzleknot or Servant of the Conduit, turn three Rogue Refiner or Whirler Virtuoso, and turn four Aetherworks Marvel and spin it that turn. In a not-so-perfect world, you may see yourself playing a severely defensive game until you draw a Marvel or get the energy needed to spin it. As seen in the Pro Tour, Marvel decks are fully capable of doing this. Overall, thank you for taking time to look over my deck! I hope it provides either an option or base for your own standard deck to play!
