My Izzet deck. Some combos include:
Act of Treason/Harness by force + Fling
Snapcaster + above
Mogg War Marshall + Purphoros + Goblin grenade
Krenko's Command + Purphoros + Goblin grenade
Krenko's Command/Mogg War Marshal + Snapcaster + Goblin grenade
Runechanter's Pike + a goblin
I wanted to build a deck around snapcaster mage that was not a traditional Izzet control deck (delver etc). I chose the goblin route because I love goblins and goblin grenade is such a good card, especially with Snapcaster. There are lots of combos with Purphoros, probably my favorite god from Theros. The other main piece of this deck is stealing opponents creatures and sacrificing them. I haven't decided which between fling, barrage of expendables, or drowned rusalka I like best, but fling seems really good late game. Maybe 2 and 2.
The main thing that I'm worried about is too many goblins and not enough control. There is no scrying, for example. I'm considering switching out the Runechanter's Pikes for two of Thassa or Keranos. I'm also considering one of more serum visions, always a good card (better or worse than Thassa in this deck?) as well as Gitaxian Probe.
Another change I'm considering is putting in one of the rusalkas or barrage of expendables in place of fling. That cud be more consistent, because I would only have to pay one mana after I take their creature, giving me the potential to use the combo turn 4. The downside is less interaction with snapcaster and runchanters pike, but i still think that might be the way to go.
I could also go even more goblin and put in a goblin guide somewhere in here, but I'm thinking that this actually isn't really an aggro deck, it's more of a control-take-their-creatures-shenanigans type deck, and Snapcaster pulls it all together. So I'll probably leave out the guide.
Snap is the only really expensive card in the deck, because I wanted to keep the price somewhat reasonable, but I figured Snapcaster Mage is one of the most fun cards in magic and it would be a card that I would enjoy in the future with other decks as well (unless he gets banned, which would be unfortunate). On the subject of price, I excluded Scalding Tarn from the list for obvious reasons (hoping for a reprint of Khans of Tarkir but we'll see).
Anyway, thanks for reading. Thoughts would be appreciated, and I plan to take this to modern FNM and see how it does. My current modern deck is Green Devotion Nykthos-Wave thing, so this is very different from that.
