You read the title. You clicked on the link. You want a cool Izzet deck. I have one made. You want it too. I share it with you. You are now happy and the world has one more Izzet player. My work here is done.
So, without further ado,in alphabetical order, the rundown:
Delver of Secrets
.It wouldn't be a delver deck without delver himself.
Electrolyze.This card is very, very good in this deck, due to the fact that it is split damage and card draw at instant speed.
Gitaxian Probe.This is the card that fits best into the deck. it gives valueble info on your opponents hand, its a cantrip, oh, and its got phyrexian mana. I LOVE PHYREXIAN MANA.
Island.It's a Land bro. says so in the name, its BASIC.
Lightning Bolt.Recently on ChannelFireball, Lightning Bolt was said to be the best red spell ever printed. That may be arguable, but it is still one of the most amazing cards ever.
Mana Leak.Your basic early game counter. Gets progressively worse over time, but this deck isn't designed to wait it out.
Monastery Swiftspear.Drop this girl turn one, cast a Gitaxian Probe, and swing for an easy two damage. Fits easily into the deck.
Mountain.More basics! you'd think we would skip over these, but noooooo!
Scalding Tarn
.Fetches feed the GY for Treasure Cruise and get us exactly the mana we need, when we need it. There's a reason that a Zendikar Booster pack costs $25.00 each.
Serum Visions. Ponder and Preordain were already banned, so this fits in.
Snapcaster Mage.Snapcaster is here, ready to regurgitate all your spells back an additional time!
Scalding Tarn
. I hate topdecking lands late game or when trying to trigger delver. You do too. Here's the solution.
Steam Vents. EVERYONE runs shocks. and this shock is the best for the deck.
Sulfur Falls.Played correctly, which it almost always is, it is a Volcanic Island. Played incorrectly, it's an
Izzet Guildgate
.
Vapor Snag.Returning a creature to your opponents hand never can go wrong, mostly to get rid of a blocker or a large token that they have so your horde of 1/1 elementals from Young Pyromancer can get through unscathed.
Young Pyromancer.This guy will make you an army, just give him a couple of turns... even easier to do with Gitaxian Probe.
Quick explanation of the sideboard:
Blood Moon is great against matchups where the other guy has a crapload of non-basics.
Pithing Needle because of the fact that this deck is Izzet and not U/W/R (america), we have to settle on this instead of Meddling Mage.
tormond's crypt is for anti GY shenanigans.
Shattering Spree is the best affinity beatdown card Imo. better than even the champion Stony Silence.
Grafdigger's Cage ruins graveyard focused decks.
